With the football WM coming up and taking place in some nice parts of Germany I thought I could introduce you a bit of Nuremberg. And that there is more to see than just the games. Since I don't live far of from there, I thought I can tell you best!

Ciao has in the chapter of Nuremberg different attractions I know and can talk about.
The first one I do is about the Handwerkerhof (trademen's court). It is a lovely little place, where I always show our visitors around. Since the place is not very big, my review seems to be quite short as well.

A BIT OF HISTORY...

Nuremberg has a castle, which was built in the 12th century. It has a large city wall, with most of it still being there. Close to the main train station you will find the King's Gate and next to it a little court. This used to be the gun park, but 1971 it was open as the trademen's court.
A big red and white gate opens into the trademen's court…

The trademen's court has little rebuilt timber houses which host a lot of different trades. You will find pottery and doll's maker, glass and tin toy caster, jewellery and art, little wine tavern and antique shop and a Lebkuchen bakery. Lebkuchen is a kind of gingerbread, which is one of Nuemberg's famous products. It is different from the english ginger bread I know, and you should at least try it!
These are just a few of the trades yo will find there and you can always be sure to find a special gift.
It has a nice flair to wander around the little houses and look around, which should not be missed.

The court is quite small, so if you do not really go into every single shop you are easily finished within half an hour. But it is worth a visit!

~ ~ ~ Opening times ~ ~ ~

15. March till 29. December
Monday to Friday: 10am - 10pm
Saturday: 10 am - 4 pm
The shops are open from 10 am - 6.30 pm
On Sundays and Bank holidays the whole place is usually shut down. But there was a discussion going on about longer opening times during the WM.

Thanks for reading and maybe I will see you there!
