We travelled to Haraki in June 2004 on a cheap last minute deal, a bit apprehensive as I wasn't able to find much on the internet with it being such a small resort. Having been to various Greek islands I would say this is the prettiest resort I have been to, it's really just one main street along the crescent shaped pebbly beach, lined with tavernas, a couple of bars and a few supermarkets.
As a couple in our late 20s we found this was the perfect resort for a relaxing holiday. I wouldn't recommend it for young groups but it would be fine for families. There wasn't a huge amount to do other than relax on the beach or with a cold drink in one of the bars, there are no watersports although the sea was so clear and calm lots of people bought snorkels and spent hours in the water at a time. Two sunbeds and an umbrella cost 6e per day to hire, a bargain as the beach would be too pebbly to lie on. Take flip flops, you won't be able to walk on the beach barefoot!
For food Kostas and Elena's taverna was the nicest, we didn't go there till the last night as it was one of the few not on the sea front but I wish we'd gone sooner because it was lovely, food well presented, delicious and incredibly cheap, plus the usual Greek friendly service. Da Vinci's Italian restaurant was also good, their pizza has to be tasted to be believed. Kiss grill, Jack's bar and Haraki Sun all did great snack type food at lunchtime. Avoid the Taverna Maria, the chicken wasn't properly cooked and when I sent it back they threw the whole plate back in the oven so everything else on the plate got burned while the chicken got cooked...
You can book excursions into Lindos or Rhodes town but I wouldn't bother. A bus runs from the town square every day and only costs a few euros. It's air conditioned which is a welcome relief and the driver shouts the times of the return busses in every language imaginable so you know how to get home. Lindos is only 10 minutes or so away by bus but isn't within cycling distance for the average person. I'd recommend taking the trip one day for the shops and a change of scene, and the 1 hour glass bottom boat trip from the beach which only cost 10 euros. Hope this helps!
