My name's Barry from Nottingham. I'm 64, married and for some reason I'm still working. Now it's January 2007 and decided I can't afford to retire so it's slog on for a few more years. Mainly becuase I like lots of mediterranean holidays.

I went to Haraki for the first time last year(2005). Found it so wonderful I'm going back in 6 days time(26th Aug 2007) So laid back it's like being in a different world. No discos but bars open as long as I need them. Plenty sunshine, nothing to do and all day to do it in. Rhodes town and Lindos within easy reach by bus or taxi, Local folk are wonderful and nothing seems too much trouble for them. I could easily live at this place. Restaurants and bars are clean, well run and polite owners and staff. What more could a man ask for.? Most bars and restaurants are on the front but a few yards back is an Italian restaurant and a couple of hundred yards up the main road is Manilo's Greek restaurant run by the man himself. The food is cooked deliciously by his wife and his daughter Damitra serves you, makes you laugh and welcome. There are no attractions or shows here. I should say Lindos, Rhodes town and possibly Faliraki are where you will find entertainment. Haraki only has beds for 150 holidaymakers so it's obviously quite small with no attractions for kids. The beach starts off with pebbles at one end, changing to shingle then sand at the other end. As for prices, well as in the case of most places which were once cheap, Greece's entry to the Euro has stopped all that but you still get value for money. The Italian & Greek restaurant would provide a good sized meal for about 10 Euros(about £6-80) but the food is superbly cooked. Arco's restaurant is very expensive but you get what you pay for. Brilliant food, fish being their speciality. You can actually see the fish swimming round waiting to be cooked for you. The front is lined with bars & tavernas, some of which serve fast food not restaurant but nod bad stuff, all with chips. Jack's bar provides the best ice cream on the whole place. 20 yards back from the front is the main square with a shop, a bar, and the money changer then it's the road out to the main Rhodes/Lindos road. Not much to do here but if you're like me and just holiday to do nothing all day, then this is the place to be. Every morning there is a boat which draws upto the beach for a trip upto Rhodes harbour and town. I have'nt been on this yet but I will next week. I'll report back about 12th Sept. A word of warning though, there are no taxis in this place. If you need a taxi someone will phone for one which comes from Lindos and that's 16 euros on the clock before you even go anywhere.

A bit more information about Rhodes would be useful, better spacing etc, but a lot of people have poor first reviews and we all improve with practice. Jo x
