Advantages: near the Hamburg nightlife Disadvantages: none
...What an excellent hotel, probabley one of the best I have stayed in.
The hotel is located approx 25 minutes in a taxi from Hamburg airport with a taxi cost in the region of 60 Euros.
Amenities:
Where to start, well lets start with the main entrance to the hotel - clean, well kept and welcoming. The main receiption of the hotel is will staffed and there is no waiting around to be attended to. The staff where more than willing to give directions, recommend places to eat outside of the hotel and places to visit.
The rooms are of excellent size and because the hotel is also a residential hotel ours also had a fully fitted kitchen within it. There was also a good choice of complimentary drinks available in the room. The bathroom was imaculate and well laid out with good quality fittings and marble. There is...

Advantages: Helpful staff, spacious rooms Disadvantages: The artist designed room seemed a little dark
...I lived in Hamburg for a few months in 2006 and so I was keen to take my family there for a weekend when the Christmas market was there. After looking at various hotels we decided to stay in the Best Western St Raphael.
Location:
The hotel is only a few minutes away from the main train station (and U-bahn stops - Hauptbahnhof Nord and Hauptbahnhof Sued) and also the bus station so if you fly into Luebeck then you're only a few minutes from your bus to or from the airport which is especially handy as the flights often arrive or depart early or late at night.
The Alster and town centre are only a walk away too!
Rooms:
The rooms vary in terms of style and size. We booked two rooms and one seemed to have been decorated by a local artist. We were very impressed by the rooms, even down to the radio in the bathroom!
Facilities:
We used...

Advantages: Great lively city; great sights!! Disadvantages: None really!
...of accommodation that ranges from youth hostels and budget hotels to luxury chains. I would definitely try and stay as close to the centre of Hamburg as you can do where you will find great value hotels from chains such as SAS, Marriott and Renaissance.
I normally stay at the Marriott or Renaissance hotels and you can pick up an internet deal for around £60 for a double room which is great value and both hotels are located right in the heart of city, less than five minutes walk from Jungfernstieg and the Alster.

What to do:
Here are a few of my favourite things to do in Hamburg:
Take a walk around the inner Alster Lake. If it is sunny enjoy an ice cream, from a vendor and if not try to get a window table at the Alstertor Cafe. After that go on an hour long cruise along the Alster and soak up the atmosphere and see...
