The beaches are lovely too. They are sandy, not pebbley, quite wide and along the front of the coast there are a huge number of little guest houses where you can stay. At different parts of the beach you can find different little companies offering whale watching excursions (SantaBarbara is famed for its whale watching), fishing boat trip, dinner boat trips and bicycles etc for hire.
There are probably a million and one other things I could say about SantaBarbara but I will leave that to you to explore for yourselves! ...
The Fox HouseInn is a very well known Public House within the Sheffield area and the sort of place that almost everyone knows where it is even if they have never stepped inside. There is little doubt that it is the remote location of this Pub that has made it such a well-known Landmark. The fact that it is positioned on the junction of two of the main routes into and out of the Peak District National Park may also be a contributing factor, as well as that it has stood on the same spot since the 18th Century.
The Fox HouseInn stands right on the boundary of the City of Sheffield. Directly across the road and you are not only in the County of Derbyshire but also the Peak District National Park. This is one of the most remote Pubs in Sheffield the highest, standing at the edge of the Moors at 1,132 feet above Sea level.

I visited SantaBarbara form the UK with my girlfriend in November 1999. We were on a round trip of California and SantaBarbara broke up the drive from LA to San Francisco.
The moment we arrived we fell in love with the beautiful mountainous backdrops and the great beaches and ocean front.
The main centre of activity in SantaBarbara streches from the pier right the way up Main Street. The pier streces out into the Pacific quite a way and gives great views of the SantaBarbara area and coastline. Main Street streches for about a mile and a half through SB and is great for shopping and eating. The continental-style restaurants are great for sitting out in the sun and people watching whilst the shopping caters for all tastes with specialist stores sitting alongside big names like Macys and The Gap.
