Obviously living in Edinburgh I have visited the Edinburgh Hard Rock Cafe, I only realised it was there two years ago and as soon as I found out I had to gR on. It was annoying in America because I missed out on it there but still at least I got to go to Planet Hollywood which is also similar and the food is lovely.
Ever since visiting the Hard Rock Cafe I have been there two times, once for my birthday and the second time on a night out with my friends. Usually we eat in Pizza Hut or some other bars but I decided to have a change and go for a bigger meal and not the usual pizza even though I love Pizza Hut and especially a large pizza with
chicken and sweetcorn, it might not sound nice but it is really nice.
The Hard Rock Cafe is on George Street and is not exactly hard to miss the sign is there, quite a noisy atmosphere and if you are on the same side of the road you will see a light projected onto the floor and moving around with the words hard rock cafe shining through the light. Through the window you see the bar and so it is quite obvious where you are.
If you are not sure where you are go to the bus station and then you will be outside Harvey Nichols then outside Harvey Nichold walk straight ahead and then keep going ahead until you get there. There is parking near the big square of grass also known as St Andrew's Square and there is parking all around which is free after 6.30pm.
As soon as you walk through the doors of the Hard Rock Cafe there is a red carpet and then you walk right into the bar where you can buy cockatils and all your usual drinks and on your right there is the shop where you get all of your Edinburgh Hard Rock Cafe memorabilia which is mainly t-shirts, caps, glasses, jackets, soft toys, lots of things to say you have vistied. I haven't bought any since I live here and there is no point but with Planet Hollywood I have all of the t-shirts and I have an Orlando one and London one. They update all of the time but I like my collection.
If you are in a big group you are usually recommended to book but in a three or four you will usually get a table. In day time for lunch it can be quite empty but I have always been at night time when it is busy and it gets noisier as it gets later. Lots of parties are going on and it is a very busy environment but at the same time a fun one.
You choose smoking or non-smoking and are then handed menus. I always like to sit at the best seats with all of the good objects on the wall. By this I mean famous belongings or props from films. There are clothes famous actors/actresses and singers have worn in films, signed guitars, songwords, also things you might remember seeing from films. I find it interesting lookig around but usually it's best to be seated with a good display because you can't just look over everyone's tables and see what's on the walls since it is rude to interrupt.
While eating there are TV screens showing music videos classics and new songs and you can sing along and I always seem to watch them for a while or wait for the better songs to come on. There is rock music and pop mainly never r'n'b.
The waitresses who have served me both times have always been very pleasant and when I went for my birthday she was very friendly and wished me happy birthday and the next time out with my friends she got us all into the party mood and joined in with the fun we all had.
On the menu it is mainly American food you can choose pastas, burgers which are very nice and also starters with salads and chicken to dip. There are lots of cocktails to get which are quite pricey but on some you get to keep the glass. There are salads, nachos for sharing, sandwiches and smoked fillings for burgers. The whole menu is something to do with burgers or sandwiches. I usually have the cheeseburgers. Sometimes I should try different.
The food prices are about £7, or 9 and starters can be anything from £5 to £13 depending on what you want to eat or how many you are sharing between. The deserts are something to leave space for because they are lovely. There are banana splits, hot fudge brownie, cheesecake, apple cobbler, chocolate chip cookie pie, hot fudge sundaes and the list goes on but they are all so nice and the reason I know is because when my friends all ordered I didn't have a desert but they couldn't eat so I shared with them all getting a taste of most deserts for free.
Overall a great night out, do expect to pay a lot but it is worth it and for birthdays they will brings cakes out if you tell them. Great atmosphere, don't go here for a quiet dinner and expect to have fun, it's what you make it.

I like Hard Rock Cafes especially when I am travelling in either Europe or the States because I know I can get a tasty, fairly healthy vegetarian meal. Triciax
