HardRock Café Edinburgh

On a recent visit to Edinburgh with Little Miss I had prebooked tickets for the Edinburgh Dungeon and a meal at Hard Rock Café.

The restaurant is located on George Street (parallel to Princes Street) in a large quite ornate looking building which was formerly the bank building. When we went to find the restaurant we were walking from the Dungeon which is next to the train station and it is about a 5 minute walk. For anyone travelling by car there are metered parking spaces outside the restaurant.

The restaurant is accessed via large glass doors and immediately it is clear that this will be like many other Hard Rock Cafes with the memorabilia, since the handles of the doors are gold covered guitars.

Once inside, the floor has the name of the restaurant tiled on the floor, with the small shop area selling merchandise to the right and a large bar area with stools and chairs to the left. We were greeted by a member of staff and given a small electronic phone like item which bleeped when our table was ready. Although we had booked and had a short 15 minute wait for a table, because Little Miss is under 18, we could not wait in the bar area so instead perused the items in the shop.

The restaurant is quite long with wooden tables and chairs dotted around in all available spaces, and similarly, there is memorabilia on every available bit of wall space. These included guitars, pieces of clothing, pictures and photographs; a lot of the memorabilia is listed on the website detailing where they have been bought and from whom. As well as having all of these items to look at there are also large screen televisions on the walls with music videos, so its quite a sensory experience!

**The food…**

Because we had already pre booked a meal as part of a deal we were brought single sided menus offering us a 2 course meal and unlimited soft drinks, teas and coffees. This was fine for us as we would have chosen a burger anyway, and although we had the choice of burgers filed with different ingredients, we actually both chose the plain burgers which came with a salad, gherkins and chips. We had been asked how we would like the burgers cooked and when they arrived and we tucked in they were cooked perfectly. Not been a real burger fan, I was pleased to find that I really enjoyed this one. The meat was tender and not fatty or greasy and the salad was just enough to ensure it wasn’t all burger. Nice and thick, the burgers were really filling. The chocolate ice cream chosen by Little Miss was served in a tall glass, three big scoops and was possibly the most chocolatey ice cream I have ever tasted.

**Contact…**

Address: 20 George Street Edinburgh EH2-2PH

Telephone: 0131 2603000

**Opening Hours:…**

Restaurant:

Sun - Thur 12:00PM - 11:00PM

Fri - Sat 12:00PM - 11:30PM

Bar and merchandise:

Mon - Sun 12:00PM 'til late

**Verdict…**

Having travelled up to Edinburgh and walked around for several hours, we were very hungry and this meal really hit the spot. The staff are friendly and welcoming and chat to customers when serving but not so much that it becomes intrusive.
