Advantages: There's very little you won't find here, a British institution, Not as pricey as you may think Disadvantages: Some of the stuff really is only for the impossibly rich, Too big!!!
...but I believe that with Harrods this is achieved.....and admirably well too.
Harrods is almost undoubtedly Britains best known individual store and is probably the most famous throughout the world. However have been established in 1849 it was not as though it gained this reputation over night. The store is situated in Knightsbridge in the big old city of London. Of course with it being in London it's easily accessible with the Knightsbridge underground ... ...even Harrods own tour bus). And if all else fails you can always walk there.
So then what does the store sell? Well that's not a very good question. What doesn't it sell would probably be better as Harrods is big........and I mean BIG. It covers an impressive 7 floors which contain 300 plus different departments. Now I can't go through every single department in Harrods because 1 - I'm 17 at the moment and don't want to be here till I'm 75, 2 - ...

Advantages: sells just about everything Disadvantages: bottle necks of customers
...delivered Madam? Harrods did sell cocaine over the counter in their pharmacy department until 1916, a service that one of two of their customers would like to see returned, no doubt. This is the store that likes to provide for its customers.
Founded in 1849 Harrods has become a worldwide name. Covering seven floors and three hundred departments, Harrods is an institution all of its own. It offers everything from selling or renting your house to ... ...store a nightmare. So if Harrods is third on your list of shops and you are feeling a tinge stressed keep on walking past. To me its not a shop you nip into. Of all the departments my favourite is the food hall, which seems to be a tourist attraction all on it’s own. Its not often you see tourists queuing up to take photos of the wet fish display which features some 50 wet fish. If fish isn’t to your taste then there are over 300 cheeses ...

Advantages: great toilets Disadvantages: expensive
If you visit London Harrods is a must. Even if you're not planning to buy anything it's worth going to have a look around. Living miles away in the middle of nowhere (Cornwall) I've only been shopping to London a few times, five at the most, but every time I have found enough times to visit Harrods.
On entry there is a lovely polite bloke dressed all in Green who opens the door for you, nice man. Once you get inside don't spend too long looking ... ...get a carrier bag from Harrods when you go!
There are some rules to be able to get into the the exclusive shop of Harrods. On the door it says no ruck sacks - you have to carry them in your hand and no rips or tears - meaning in clothes. You have to be posh you see!
Make sure you go to the toilet when you go to Harrods - this may sound strange! It does cost you a quid but inside there's everything, even a cash point??? Why you'd need money in the ...

Advantages: you can buy EVERYTHING! Disadvantages: very expensive
...which I found out:
Harrods has been established in 1849 as a small grocerie of the londoner Henry Charles Harrod. After the great exibition, when a lot of people were imigrating the United Kingdom, the demand in his little store rose up very fast. After a few years the requirement had risen so high that Harrod had change into a new bigger building. It´s the one you can visit today in the centre of Knightsbridge.
But in this days there isn´t just ... ...1 GBP! That´s it.
Also Harrods has a own bank, travel agencies, Bars and a lot of restaurants. So I don´t wonder when I read that 4000 people (!) work in Harrods.
The most famous of Harrods in Germany are the "Foodhalls". There you can buy all things which you can put between your teeth. *lol*
Fish, meat, crispy birds ;-), cheese, sausages, caviar and the famous jam. Too much for one alone.
The new owner of Harrods is Mohammed al Fayed, an egypt ...

Advantages: Designer Paradise Disadvantages: Snobbish and no customer service
I have never been to Harrods till last Saturday when a friend of mine came visiting London from overseas. Well, the reason being that everyone says that you must go to Harrods if you are in London. For me, it is just accompanying her that I went into the store. Being near to the KnightBridge station is a plus, but I don't particulary like the idea of having to carry my bag in my hands than hang it on my shoulders when I am in the store. What a ridiculous ... ...them. Well, where is the customer service then? So, why bother to go to Harrods when they are so snobbish. I still prefer the favourite stores of Debemhen and Marks and Spensers. At least you get a smile from them rather than a stare. ...

Advantages: Totally Self-Indulgent and Delicious Experience! Disadvantages: Do I really have to list what the "disadvantages" are? I mean, this is a totally self-indulgent experience and everything is so delicious!
...In certain circles on the internet, I'm known as "The Chocolate Lady". The reason for this is that many years ago, on a newsgroup, I proved my vast knowledge and passion for this godly food item. But until recently, I felt that I had been letting my public down by never having experienced a visit to the Max Brenner Chocolate Bar at Harrods in London.
I am pleased to inform you that I have now corrected this oversight and have decided to review this restaurant for your reading (and drooling) pleasure.
As a forward, you should know who this Max Brenner person is. Actually, rumor has it that this isn't actually one person, but two persons. Double personality or not, the persona known as Max Brenner is of Israeli origin. Having learned the art of making chocolates in the great cocoa Mecca of Belgium, the return to his homeland...

Advantages: lots of chocolate goodies Disadvantages: messy, not comfortable, nothing spectacular
...The other day, while I was walking through miserable and grey London, I was suddenly overcome by an unexplicable chocolate craving. I also wanted somewhere to sit down and read a book - so when I put these two desires together, it suddenly came to me. There was a Chocolate Café in Harrods, a treat that I had promised myself for a while. I hopped on the next Piccadilly Line and exited at Knightsbridge.
I have always been intimidated by Harrods - its size is simply overwhelming. Instead of walking through this massive empire of junk and luxury, I immediately went up to the information desk and ask where I might find the Max Brenner Chocolate Café. I was told it was on the second floor and given a map. It turned out that I really needed it. Once on the second floor, I initially followed the signs to the Harrods Café, but on eyeing...

Advantages: So much to see - fabulous attractions Disadvantages: So little time
...Last year I visted NY for my sisters wedding in Central Park. Like anywhere you can never guarantee the weather and somewhere like NY, it doesnt matter weather it does shine or rain - there is so much to do you don't let it bother you.
To start with everyone was so cheery and always saying ' Have a nice day'. It was good to go in a shop and leave feeling pleased. The shops are unbelievable - macys + Bloomingdales which I am sure many of you have heard about - are just like Harrods (London) only bigger, i have never seen so many handbags, its great. You have leave at least a week for shopping (especially the girls).
~I personally preferred to do the sightseeing. As you know they have the famous yellow cabs, or the tube or you can go on a tour bus around many different parts of NY.
