Fifth Floor Cookbook is truly outstanding. It presents the innovative face of modern British food in which seemingly disparate tastes and textures are expertly blended to produce some genuinely exciting dishes. This is the couture version of food. Oysters are served with spicy sausage, the chicken and noodle salad is flavoured with peanuts and jellyfish, and a homely salmon sandwich is perked up with (unteapotted) aïoli and Lebanese village bread. Harris, the head chef at the Fifth Floor restaurant in the Harvey Nichols London store since it opened in 1992, has written the book with Hugo Arnold, a freelance writer who contributes regularly to the Sunday Times, Financial Times and Food Illustrated. Many of the recipes they present have had previous incarnations on The Fifth Floor's menu, but most are adapted for cooking at home. The contents are organised like a restaurant kitchen, starting with sauces, stocks and other essentials in the classic French tradition. Soups are given a separate chapter as are the comfort foods, rice and potatoes. Starters, poultry, game, fish, meat and puddings get conventional treatment, but a whimsical chapter of things--sardines, morels, berries, etc.--on toast has been added. This is a cookbook which you will constantly refer to for inspiration. However, it won't languish on a coffee table, it will get stained with saffron dressing and creme chantilly. Unfortunately, that's also the book's only fault--the binding is unlikely to withstand the rigours of constant use. --Dale Kneen
Advantages: Helpful staff, large range of high end labels Disadvantages: They have a store in Leeds - something that may cheapen the image of Harvey Nichols

They also have a store in Leeds, but if you want the real thing you have to go to the Knightsbridbe store. They also have a boutique in Birmingham. This store is extremely expensive. But that is not a bad thing because this is what gives it its reputation. The company always charge the same price or more than Harrods or ...

Advantages: All your fave designers under one roof Disadvantages: Prada is missing!
...It does have a Yo Sushi on the 5th Floor which is great for a cup of green cha & a light lunch.
I find that the following comparison holds some truth: Harrods is mainly for tourists, Harvey Nicks is for the more stylish & Selfridges is more popularised. ...

...Knightsbridge but my favourite is Harvey Nichols- Harvey Nicks to the locals- which is very well known on account of being one of the late Princess Diana's fav shopping spots.
Harvey Nicks is best known for its virtually unrivalled selection of the latest fashions for men, women and kids. All the big name designer labels are here ranging from Calvin Klein to Ralph Lauren and Miyake. There is also a highly extravagant selection of perfumes, magnificent ... ...the lovely surroundings. If you are a bit pushed for time there is a lively bar next to the restaurant which serves up sandwiches and other snacks.
Harvey Nicks,in my view,is one of London's great shopping haunts and is well worth visiting if you are on a trip to London. ...

Advantages: Excellent range of goods, brilliant resturant and food hall. Disadvantages: pricey
Harvey Nichols or as those in the know call it Harvey Nicks is in my opinion is far and a way London's best department store. Smaller than many of its London rivals, it is far less touristy and busy than Harrods just down the road. Although small Harvey Nicks excels it self in the products it sells. The clothing departments are very cutting edge and many designers only sell to Harvey Nicks. Their menswear department has recently been refurbished ... ...floor of Harvey Nicks houses their food hall. Again a brilliant range of goods. Whenever i go i stock up on Hershey chocolate bars from America, Orio Cookie breakfast cereal and French fruit syrup! Has lots of goods that you can find no where else in the country, excellent.
Also on the top floor ajoining the food hall is Harvey Nicks brilliant Fifth floor resturant. London's best department store resturant it has won many awards. Considering the ...

Advantages: Best city in England. It's in Yorkshire, fab entertainments, something for everyone to do, see and enjoy. Plus, I was born there! Disadvantages: Ey, let's not be starting on my hometown now, ok!?
...is catered for. From the many many pubs and bars in the city centre, to the amazing array of nightlife available, Leeds is a party city. Within a five minute walk, you can easily stumble across two clubs - if you don't know the city. If you do, that can be turned into about 5 or 6. Example enough, if any were needed, of how compact the city centre is.
For campact, do not read small. Leeds City Centre is, however, very well laid out, with a large pedestrianised area in the centre to ensure ease of movement on those big weekend afternoons. Also, the array of shops is stunning, ranging from the upmarket (we have the only HarveyNicholl's outside London) to just the market (Leeds boasts both an open-air and roofed marketplace). From the ordinary to the strange, everything can be purchased somewhere - most likely in the Corn Exchange. In the olden...

Advantages: Large range of different types of shops Disadvantages: Not so geat if you don't have cast to spend
...If you live in the North of England, or the Midlands, come to that, it is well worth coming into Leeds if you want to shop. Here you will find great clothing shops, home stores and a large selection of many other high street and designer outlets.
Leeds has the only branch of HarveyNichols outside of London, and
although, as one would imagine, the prices are a bit on the steep
side, it is a great landmark and thousands of shoppers go in and out
every week.
There are department stores, large clothing shops such as C & A. A
large Marks and Spencer, Debenhams etc There is also a Habitat and
Pier as well as more conventional furniture stores. You can buy books
at Borders or 2 branches of Waterstones, music and such at HMV. There
is also a body shop as well as galleries ... everything you can
imagine really.
Apart from all...

...Shopping in Landmark:
The Landmark is famous for its five-level sky-lighted retail atrium. The atrium is filled up with famous international fashion and jewellery brands such as Gucci, Versace, Prada, Loewe, Celine and Tiffany & Co. The newly open flagship outlet of Louis Vuitton would surely attract its followers and become a new tourist attraction. Last year, the Landmark has also enhanced its position in the high-class market by including the first ever Asia HarveyNichols under its "collection". Although the Hong Kong HarveyNichols cannot be compared with the London one, so don't expect too much from it. But it would still be worth having a look especially during the sale season, you might find something you love in a much lower price than in London...
