Where? Sun Newspaper Offer Every 8 weeks or so - 36 sites to choose from (all next to beach) offering 1st rate accomodation: caravans/chalets, brilliant facitlities and entertainment -this is a bargain break that definitely equals value for money,we book at least one each year and we all love it! especially the childen.Or alternatively you can book straight out of the Haven holiday brochure but this will cost quite a bit more with no benefits!
The offer is £9.50 per person for 3 nights Fri-mon or 4 nights mon-thur and this includes accomodation, bedding and usually club passes (some places this is £3 extra per stay) and importantly at most sites children are entertained & supervised 3 times a day in clubs aimed at specific age groups:- 'Dolphins' for the terrible toddlers, 'Tigers'for 5-11s and another for the teenagers. Events and entertainment in each club is varied from day to day and weather permitting usually includes sports (rounders matches, football etc) picnics, tresure hunts and there are indoor circuses, wrestling matches to watch, painting competitions, quizzes and so on - each of my children have always been happy with the entertainment programme, and so have we!
Which for us has meant spending some time together, doing just what we want to do!Most of the resorts have indoor and outdoor pools and situated next or close to the beach, so for us a swim is good if it is sunny, or there is always the mini-golf, bowling or sports complex..With our three children we are allocated a three bedroom caravan(or chalet) the caravans are always in new condition, spotlessly clean, with good ventilation and usually have double glazed windows, fridge with freezer, microwave and traditional cooker.
The bathrooms have a bath with shower over-head, within the lounge there is a table and seating together with sofa (which converts to another bed) and yes there is also the dreaded T.V.
The sites vary from being all-action sites to the more relaxed ones and therefor it's important to consider their classification when deciding where to go. We tend to go to the all-action sites which have a wide range of activities and clubs organised for the family - There is always at least one bar facility and a club room (in the bigger sites there are two or three) In addition to the children's activities there is adult football, golf-putting, wall climbing, rifle shooting, pool competitions, daily quizzes, dart matches and bingo, most sites have both indoor and outdoor pools whereas some have one or the other.
During the evening entertainment varies from site to site but starts early on in the evening with bingo followed by the children returning from their 'Tiger' club whom gahter their praetn onto the dance-floor for some real entertainment! The cabaret usually consists of a comedian, band, musician etc, and some are very good. Prices at the bars are not to bad, and the children have their own bar with sweets and goodies etc.
Being close to the seafront the sites are well located and each site offers a free bus service if needed - medical help is always on site if needed, and if you do a doctor one is nearby!
The sites we have been to personally that are particularly good are :Combe Haven (Hastings)2 pools, Lots of sports, childrens clubs, several clubs/bars. St Minver(Devon) much quieter tree lined park with country house as its club house, relaxing site in beautiful location, still has good facilities for children and good entertainment programme.(Had you been there 2 years back you may have seen a really unwilling participant on stage doing an awful rendition of itsiwennyteenyweeny..god it was embarrassing and I'v never seen my husband laugh so much) Favourite site was Caister in Yarmouth, situated next to a sand-duned beach, it is a large site with a lot going on excellent entertainment programme for the children (parents do not need to go) huge ball park, swimmming pool, wall-climbing, bike rental, bowling hall, circus etc etc - we had a briliant time and would definitely go again.
I must admit to being a little wary the first time we booked but as I said to my husband at the site 'I think we need to eat humble pie' - a cheap offer from the Sun - would you believe it -Now I swear by them ,there is always something to do at little or no cost and its usually a case of 'what shall we not do today' rather than 'what is there to do?' A brilliant price, a cheap break away - buy the sun if you dare and book one up.

We've booked a short break through The Sun and although they advertise it as being £9.50 per person, it comes to more than that with all the other surcharges that are bunged on when the bill comes. I can't remember exactly how much ours came to now (3 adults and 1 child) but I think there was about another £30 on top of the £38 for electricity, club passes and hire of bed linen. Anyway, we're off in September so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather will hold out that long because we really do need a break. ~Sharon

Certainly sounds like a great place to have some fun. The Sun you say... now here's an opinion to increase their sales (yet further I might add). Timmy.

Advantages: Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful. Good entertainment Disadvantages: Can be pricey if you like the amusements. Lots of energy needed for the hills.
