The Hawthorn Suites are at 8303 Palm Parkway, Orlando, Florida in the Lake Buena Vista (Walt Disney World) area. Located with the excitement of Orlando on the doorstep the Hawthorn Suites Hotel has wonderful amenities, a warm comfortable atmosphere, and pleasant surroundings. As you would expect from any American hotel a large car park is available on site.
The all-suite hotel is marketed to be a "home away from home." Spacious one and two bedroom suites have a separate living room and bedroom area with a full kitchen. In addition, all room rates include a full, hot American breakfast buffet served daily, a social hour from Monday to Thursday evenings, and a complimentary scheduled shuttle service to the Walt Disney World theme parks. The suites have over 100 standard rooms laid out to give a really spacious feel and the rooms are split into four areas with a living room, a kitchen (with a dining room table), a bathroom and a bedroom. Some of the rooms have two bedrooms. Situated on Palm Parkway the Hawthorn Suites are close to the Disney complex and Downtown Disney is a short drive by car. At this point it is worth mentioning that the ample car parking is free, but if you don't have a car there is a shuttle to the Disney Parks and transportation to the non-Disney areas for a fee.
Key room features include: One and Two-Bedroom Suites; Hair Dryer; Data Ports Non-Smoking Rooms and TV entertainment.
Recreational facilities include: An outdoor pool and hot tub; an exercise facility; a sports court and a BBQ Area.
Further afield other Florida attractions can be easily reached in around an hour including: Busch Gardens - 45 miles, Kennedy Space Centre - 40 miles, Daytona Beach - 50 miles.
My family stayed at Hawthorn Suites primarily because of its location close to all the Orlando Theme Parks by car. Two adults and two children stayed in a ground floor suite with all the amenities to hand. The American Breakfast was good enough for us, but it was the same everyday. Having said that it was sufficient to set us up for a day at the theme parks.
The staff were all friendly and helpful. Our rooms were cleaned daily and the air conditioning worked well. Despite there being a variety of different guests at the Hawthorn Suites we noticed no noise at night, but I must admit we were pretty tired by the time we hit the sack on nearly every occasion.
The rooms have a good separate cooking area which means a full range of food can be prepared away from the sleeping areas. Our room had the following for comfort: air conditioning; fridge; microwave; coffee maker; hair dryer, iron and more than one TV. We used the pool in the evening or early morning mostly, because during the day we wanted to make the most of the Theme Parks. We didn’t find time to try the Gym. In the Summer months the air conditioning is a must - we went in August and the heat and humidity was stifling.
I think if you compare the prices with other accommodation in the vicinity you'll be pleasantly surprised. I recommend the Hawthorn Suites at Buena Vista, Orlando for anyone on a budget. Some people may prefer greater luxury, but if your priority is spending time in the theme parks and experiencing Florida then this is an ideal choice of base for your holiday.
