Advantages: Good range of films Disadvantages: pricey
The Haydn cinema on the Mariahilferstraße (on the left hand side if you are heading out of town), by Zieglergasse underground station is another of Vienna's English cinemas. The tickets are a little bit more expensive than at the Artis, although the screens are slightly bigger, and the seats a bit more comfortable. The popcorn is very salty, and drinks from the cinema are very expensive. If you want a beer before the film then you are better off ... ...good there. The films are always very current, literally new releases and the queues are not too bad.
Unlike the Artis, the films are often in their original versions and then subtitled in German, which means that the cinema as a result tends to be fuller thatn others showing original versions without subtitles. The whole cinema is downstairs, and there is a bar and waiting area so that you don't have to queue on the street. ...

...-Hungarian monarchs, which was built in the fourteenth century for the Esterházy princes, and then rebuilt towards the end of the seventeenth century, shortly after it had been a free city of Hungary. It is also the only town of any great size in Burgenland. Even though there has been an increase in industry, with a lot of companies decamping from Vienna to Eisenstadt due to cheaper land prices, the town is still very pleasant.
Other sites worth seeing include the Kalvarienbergkirche (Mount Calvary Church), which includes the tomb of Josef Haydn, and the house where Haydn lived for over 25 years has been turned into a museum. Another of the churches worth visiting is the Franziskanerkirche (Francisan Church) which has a family vault for the Esterházy's. Just outside Eisenstadt there is also a castle, Forchtenstein which is interesting enough, but doesn...

...Hofburg: Vienna
We decided on Vienna for our holiday last year mainly because of the musical connections with Mozart, Beethoven and Haydn.
Organisation and planning being in my nature (too much as my husband will say), I planned a detailed itinerary to maximise our limited time in Vienna. Of course a trip to the Hofburg Imperial Palace was one the main items on our agenda. I planned a day to visit the palace. How misguided could I have been. The Imperial palace in the end took up three days of the holiday alone. It is vast. On my first visit I was astounded and in awe of the magnificent splendour of the exterior of the building and this astonishment was only increased as the opulence of the interior unfolded.
Potted History
Unlike other palaces, the Hofburg is not a single building erected on behalf of one monarch...

...Servus!
Café Servus is located on Vienna’s equivalent of Regent Street, the Mariahilferstraße, which is home to most of the big shops in Vienna that have shunned the central location of the Graben and Kärntnerstraße next to St Stephens Cathedral (Stephansdom). It is also ideally situated for the Haydn International Cinema, which shows only original versions of films. As well as being a place to come for a coffee whilst indulging in a spot of retail therapy, it is also a place to come to eat after work, as it also has a reasonably priced menu, and for Vienna, a fairly reasonably priced Gin & Tonic.
Until recently I had always gone there for a Gin & Tonic pre/post cinema, but recently I have eaten there too as it is quite a practical choice of restaurant, and the prices are reasonable. There are a selection of snacks and light...
