Booked a basic Beechwood chalet at this park and stayed from Monday 25-Friday 29 August 2008. Cost was £180.00, which I was very pleased with, but for the money knew that this would be very basic. After reading a review on this site, was slightly worried that the place would be dirty and damp. So when I arrived on the Monday at approximately 3pm (check in time was 4pm, but the friendly receptionist let us have the key), I was very pleasantly surprised. Yes, we were in the last row of chalets at the bottom of the park, but we overlooked the children's play area and a fishing lake and had no other chalets overlooking us. Yes, the accommodation was very basic, but it looked like we had been given a refursbished chalet, there was new carpet throughout, a new kitchen area and the shower room looked very new with a glass enclosed shower. We had decided to hire the bed linen and this was very clean and fresh smelling.
The place overall is very quiet, lots of residential properties, but my two children were only too happy to run about in the park and use the outdoor swimming pool.
The park is only a ten minute walk from the beach and lots of facilities for the children are there - we particularly liked the pirate themed crazy golf. We spent most of the days out visiting Crealy, Babbacombe Model Village, Dawlish and the black swans and Shaldon Wildlife Trust (all within a 15/20 minute drive).
The children did not want to come home and we would definitely think of visiting Hazelwood Park again.
