Botanical Birmingham

Advantages: Plenty to see, a relaxing escape from the city.
Disadvantages: Expensive for a one-off visit. Disappointing restaurant.

Every city need its green spaces. The architecture may be spectacular and the shops fantastic, but finding a place to escape the traffic and bustle is a necessity for most city dwellers. Picture Birmingham and what do you see? The Bullring, New Street Station and Spaghetti Junction would be the first things that come to my mind. Although I've never lived in Birmingham itself, I worked there for several years. During that time I went to the Botanical Gardens regularly, but for the purposes of this review I will focus on my most recent visit which was August 2008. A Brief History Celebrity gardeners are not a new phenomenon. In the nineteenth century J.C Loudon was an influential writer on gardening and became part of London's high society. He designed the Birmingham Botanical Gardens in 1830 to provide a place where keen ...

Give Castle Lodge the Dodge

Advantages: A historical building
Disadvantages: disappointing and spoilt by the owners

Town. Address for your sat nav is ? Castle Lodge Castle Square Ludlow Shropshire Don?t know the post code, so use the one for Ludlow Castle - SY8 1AX Ludlow is off the A49, if you look out for the park and ride car park there is a frequent bus service that picks you up and drops you in the Castle Square, which is where you will find the lodge and Ludlow Castle. If you travel from the Birmingham area you need to go west on the A456 through Kidderminster. If you come from the M5 then leave it at Junction 3 and follow the A456 through Kidderminster. There is also a train service that frequently visits Ludlow. ~~ Conclusion ~~ I do understand that this property has been the cause of some bitterness from previous owners as they have tried to maintain it and open it up to the public, without any help from ...

Heath Ledger: The Life & The Death. :(

Advantages: The quotes made me cry at the end
Disadvantages: Everything really, badly written, badly structured, badly edited

As today is the anniversary of his death, I thought I'd post this on this site tonight. Heath Ledger was one of the most talented actors in Hollywood before his untimely death. The Life of Heath Ledger Born Heath Andrew Ledger in 1979 in Perth Australia, it wasn't long before Heath picked up the acting bug. He had many different stints in TV shows including Home & Away but it wasn't until his first Hollywood film '10 Things I Hate About You' which was a film based loosely on Shakespeare's play 'Taming Of The Shrew' that Ledger was known. After 10 Things, he went on to make a total of 15 films, all of which were loved by people around the globe. He has stared across some of the best names in Hollywood, from Mel Gibson, Kate Hudson, Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Caine . Despite being well known from films like A Knights Tale ...
