Heaven, London

Heaven is a clubbing institution - with a great sound and lighting system and some fine gay nights. Until a year or two back, it was looking decidely shabby but a revamp gave it a smarter image at a time of increasing competition. There is a main floor and smaller rooms offering alternative sounds. Monday is Popcorn - a cheap night out for gays and lesbians with reduced priced drinks, a commercial music policy and a young crowd. BEDROCK The 1st Thursday of every month at Heaven in Villiers St London. Resident DJ John Digweed is the dogs ********, he gives the best night ever, i think it is the best night in London. The crowd is young mixed and fun, originally 15 months ago there were loads of students and now there are loads of tourists as the word has spread which has changed it a lot perhaps not for the best. Im afraid to say that Heaven has, sadly, gone down hill. From a happy,Gay Hi nrg loving club to a drug filled hole. The place itself looks great and the sound system is great, but the whole GAY atmosphere is dead. Beatiful people with no time for anyone but themselves.On my last visit I was so disappointed to see drugs being taken by leather men on the dance floor......what happened to enjoying the dancing rather than having to be out of your face on drugs.The music has gone through many stages which is understandable, but its a bit to rave like. Heaven is a good gay night out, Thumping tunes and three rooms to explore this club is a pricy but great night out. It boast possibly the second best location in London with plenty of pre club bars close by, Under the arches Charring cross road. The atmosphere is hard and fast, but there is still a fair amount of good seating and several bars to chose from, the music dosn't vary much between the floors but is still a good mix, the occasional act makes each week a bit different. Heaven is aptly named. Having moved to London from ireland three years ago and heard all the hype that surrounds this club, I wanted to confirm it's reputation as being valid. It is. Heaven consists of three floor. The ground has a capacity of some 1,500 patrons and holds the real up-4-it crowd. The music is dance-oriented and beomes heavier as the night progresses. The First floor, or 'Powder Room' is geared towards the 'handbag' bunch playing uplifting happy beats.
