Henry J Bean's is fantastic! The display shelves behind the bar are absolutely jammed full of bottles of spirits from all around the world, it is overwhelming. Any drink you have ever tasted or heard mentioned in a movie, you’ll probably find it here. The cocktail list is endless. Situated in the Printworks in Manchester’s town centre, Henry J Bean's seems to be marketed as an all-American bar. The décor is modern yet unobtrusive making ... ...to spend the evening here, cocktails cost around £4 each and they go down so easily.
The service at Henry J Bean's is excellent and if you arrive when it is not too busy, you may get to see the staff throwing around cocktail shakers a la Tom Cruise. ...

...Every time I go out in Nottingham they have opened another new bar or restaurant. Being the nosey, curious person that I am, I like to try as many as possible (purely in the name of research of course).
I do have to say that when I found my latest restaurant HenryJBeans (Cornerhouse – Nottingham) I was very pleasantly surprised.
I had just finished my Friday rush at work, when my partner, who finishes earlier than me, turned up to take me out for dinner (by way of apology/creeping as he was ditching me that night for his mates). ‘Great’ I was thinking Mc Donald’s again, but I was wrong. We had noticed the restaurant having its finishing touches a few weeks back and I had commented that it looked interesting. So ‘bless him’ he was taking me there.
When we arrived I didn’t know what...

...but there was as much sleazy things as there was in Bangkok.
We were booked into the Amari Orchid Hotel, (it was rated as five star Hotel but looked like a four star to us). Even in January it was very hot and our room they said were "semi open air", (that means no air-conditioning).
The rooms had the high Thai teak ceilings and the furniture was made of rattan with silk pillows on the two seat sofa and two chairs. We had twin beds and the bed spreads and curtains were bright colored cotton.
There was a telephone but no patio, TV, fridge, safe or radio.
The bathroom was a normal size and made of green and white tile. There was a tub with a shower, a toilet and a sink. There was a small counter put there were no amenities.
Every morning we had a buffet breakfast in HenryJ. Beans Café. We had Room Service bring our lunch to the pool every day...

Advantages: great for shopping, great customer services, large clean modern rooms Disadvantages: maybe a bit "out of reality" for those wanting to experience the real Bangkok
....
The aircondtioning (which believe me is important in Bangkok) in the hotel was great, easy to control, and was never "too cold" although there was "frost bite" setting if you wanted it! The temperature in the coridoors / food areas was also just "right"
There were several restraunts at the hotel, the best being HenryJBeans - fab atmosphere, fair prices, excellent thai and american style food and smoking areas for us naughty people. Locals seemed to come in to use it so there wasnt that stale hotel bar atmosphere. There was also an Italian, Thai and Chinese restraunts. We didnt try them as they always seemed to be empty and were "hotel prices"
There is a lovely swimming pool on the 8th floor with a bar that again was very quiet and great for a refreshing morning swim, you could even have your breakfast at the poolside bar.
So, any negatives...

Having stormed through a quick succession of 4 vacuum cleaners in as many years, I asked a friend (who also happened to be a cleaner) what she used at home.
Well, it was like opening the floodgates. After running through what she categorised as rubbish... more
