    Budapest’s Heroes Square stands at the top end of Andrassy utca, a most fitting position for one of the city’s best known landmarks. Known in Hungarian as Hosok Ter, not only is the square worth seeing for the magnificent monument and for the elegant buildings that surround it, it’s also a good place to get a grounding in Hungarian history. I know very little about Hungarian history and what I do know is almost entirely post World War Two, with perhaps a smattering of the Habsburgs.
