Hesperia Del Mar, Barcelona

...and stayed at the Hotel Hesperia Del Mar for five nights with 3 other friends and I have to honestly say we all loved it! ...were standard and offered everything we needed. The bathroom was fully equipped with a shower, toilet, bidet and sink with large mirror. The bedroom consisted of 2 single beds and were comfy. There is air conditioning so we never felt hot and flustered in the room unless we turned it off and forgot to put it back on!!

I visited Barcelona this July and stayed at the Hotel Hesperia Del Mar for five nights with 3 other friends and I have to honestly say we all loved it! The hotel price which we got from expedia was one of the most competitive around and we were pleasantly surprised when we got to the hotel, for how cheap the hotel was it was quite nice. It cost for five night my share was 145 so the entire room cost was 290. The hotel reception staff were the highlight of the hotel. They are very friendly, warm and always willing to help! The rooms were standard and offered everything we needed. The bathroom was fully equipped with a shower, toilet, bidet and sink with large mirror. The bedroom consisted of 2 single beds and were comfy. There is air conditioning so we never felt hot and flustered in the room unless we turned it off and forgot to put it back on!!
There was an iron available upon request but we did not use that as we had brought our own, and there was a hairdryer in the bathroom. We had used the hair dryer for a day before it stopped working. This is my only gripe with the hotel, upon several phone calls to reception we had the cleaning ladies come in just to check we were indeed right that it was not working, they would come in turn it on and off and they say yes it is broken, they would leave and we would never hear from them again! Finally we called to say can this get fixed as we do need hairdryer, to which we were told that there is no one in the hotel that can fix the hairdryer nor will there be. We found this very confusing that there is no handy man to fix odd jobs in the hotel, but we suspected that they did not want to call someone out just for a hairdryer.

However, that aside the hotel was very good, upon leaving we had to check out at 12pm and we were due not to leave till 6pm. They kindly allowed us to store out suitcases behind reception till we needed them back. Also at reception there's a lovely bowl of free sweets which me and my friends took great pleasure in taking handfuls of every day!!

The hotel for us was ideally located. Just across the road and a mere 2 min walk was a lovely clean beach! Also, even better is port Olympic which was a 10/15 minute walk alongside beach. Port Olympic is full of clubs/bars and restaurants and is where we spent most of our nights! It's a very young and vibrant place and is so easy to get to. The hotel even has free passes to certain clubs on offer.

Also, the hotel is not far from La Rambla, which is the main bustling point of Barcelona in my opinion, and took 15 mins bus ride, a ride that was very easy, very quick and extremely hassle free!
The hotel is not far from the airport (BCN) either so journey there and back did not take very long around 20/25 mins!

One problem that we did have was where to eat for breakfast/lunch, as there are not many places in that surrounding area. We did eat at a place just a few places down every day and while the food was ok we would have liked to try somewhere else. We never ate at the hotel but we did think their prices were a little to high-we are students after all!!

Overall, I loved this hotel, from the friendly staff to the great location to the beach, Port Olympic and La Rambla! I would definitely recommend and I will also definitely think about coming back in the future!
