East Lodge Country House Hotel, Derbyshire

Advantages: beautiful relaxed luxurious surroundings
Disadvantages: wanted to stay more than one night

Stayed here 9th December 2006. Booked a Saturday night here for my husband's 39th birthday as a treat (for both of us)! We only live about half an hour away in Chesterfield and had heard very good reports about the place. We were not disappointed. We arrived at around 4pm and after we had been shown to our 'executive room' (can't remember name but it was above the reception/conservatory area). Driving up to the Hotel, it looked spectacular as it was all decorated for Christmas - looked beautiful. We decided to leave our bags and go back down to the bar in the conservatory and have a drink before going to change for dinner. Very relaxing place - a few hours away from two 7 and 9 year old 'teenagers' at home. After dressing for dinner we went back down to the bar for a gin and tonic and to order from the fantastic menu. So much ...

Villa country House Hotel

Advantages: Friendly staff, clean
Disadvantages: Pricey, can have a few problems

My partner, daughter and I stayed at this hotel a couple of times when we go and visit the family up there. From the outside the hotel looked beautiful and clean and looked really big, as soon as i stepped in the doors i was weary but the staff are all nice and always had a smile on their faces. The hotel could do with a bit of a lift inside, the rooms wasn't as big as expected from the outside but was well furnished with all your little pieces ( trouser press, tea/coffee etc) The restaurant was nice with all your traditional food, the waiters and waitresses all know what they are doing and don't mess around, there was one complaint on the next table about a steak wasn't cooked right and the waiter offered to change it straight away, The waiter then came back out and said the steak was all from the same bit lot and it will ...

Ennerdale Country House Hotel Cleator

Advantages: Lovely location, excellent food and staff. Rooms were great.
Disadvantages: A bit remote, Noisy shredder in the toilet.

, and I'm not sure if they are in all of the rooms, but it became bearable once we knew what set it off! There were ground floor rooms available for the less mobile. The grounds of the hotel were lovely and it would be an ideal location for a wedding. There were events on in the hotel every day and night of our stay and although we were in the room above, we were not disturbed at all. The staff remained polite and extra helpful although they were clearly busy. We booked this hotel with superbreak and got an unbeatable deal for the May spring bank holiday weekend. We would say that the Ennerdale country house hotel is not the ritz, but for great value for money, lovely central surroundings great food and rooms it's certainly worth a look. ...
