Emerging from the underground, the hotel was easily visible, directly opposite the ?Hilton Brussels City? and the ?Brussels Crowne Plaza?. Despite the warnings about red light districts, I instinctively realised that there was nothing, in fact, to worry about. I think (hope) I was right. So ? finally we got to the Sheraton. Not exactly a picture postcard, it?s a 30-storey concrete-and-glass superstructure in the Brussels Business District, but with excellent access, too, to the more touristy areas; an excellent compromise. Perfectly good deal for the money

Advantages: Handy for the metro. Close to city centre. Sauna. Large room
Disadvantages: Bathroom a little tired. Servicing of rooms could have been better

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in May 2006 whilst on business, paying about £60 a night. The hotel is really handy for the Metro, having Rogier station almost outside the front door. Although it must be said, it's not the most scenic part of town. The city centre is only a 10 minute stroll away. You enter via a rather elegant lobby where the staff are happy to help. I was given a swipe card for my room and pointed towards the lifts. My room turned out to be well furnished, very roomy and very clean and nicely decorated. I had a selection of channels to choose from on the TV including BBC1 and BB2. The room was equipt with tea and coffee making facilities, a small fridge, armchair, desk and desk chair, double bed and bedside cabinets. Minimalist Art

Advantages: Central, cheap, artistic
Disadvantages: No facilities, rubbish breakfast

For some reason, I booked a week's holiday to Brussels. On my own. It should be stated straight away that I didn't have a great holiday, but I'll try not to let that influence my views of the hotel itself. The Comfort Hotel Art Siru (or the Siru as I'll refer to it from now on) is a strange beast. A few years ago, around 130 contemporary Belgian artists were commissioned to decorate each of the 101 rooms, to create the world's first 'Art Hotel'. Every room is decorated with unique and original paintings or sculptures, and it really is a lovely idea. The bizarre thing is that you'd expect this kind of innovation in some kind of high-end resort hotel.
