I had the 'pleasure' of having a 4 week stay at the Holiday Inn Express recently whilst on an airline training course.
It's one of two hotels near the airport, the other one being the awful Ibis. So if you need a hotel due to an early or late flight this is probably your best bet.
Location:
It's a quarter of a mile from Luton Airport and 1 mile from Luton Airport Parkway train station. There is a shuttle bus that goes from the station to the airport every 10 minutes or so and it goes past the hotel, there is a bus stop just outside. A taxi to Luton Parkway if you do not want to use the free bus is around £4.

Last weekend I flew to Amsterdam and I had the pleasure of flying out of Luton Airport, and I call it a pleasure because it really was!! If you want a relatively quiet airport with no queues, without the throngs of passengers you find at Heathrow/Gatwick, a few shops/restaurants and a convenient baggage reclaim and customs section then Luton Airport is the palace for you.
Luton Airport or London Luton Airport as it is now known is situated in Luton, Bedfordshire which is approximately 30 miles from London. It is an International airport although it generally flies to destinations within Europe and is the major hub for several low-cost carriers.

an hour in the room the light began to flicker in the bathroom, thinking that was really going to annoy me, I called reception and we got switched to the room next door which was exactly the same as the other room but with everything the opposite way around!
Bar/Lounge
We were pretty hungry after our long drive from North Wales to Luton so we decided to go down and have a meal in the bar which was served from 12noon up to 10pm, the menu was in the room so you could see what food was included in the menu before you got down there.
I opted for the Chicken Tikka Massala that came with pilau rice and poppadum which was really nice and was £6.95.
I had a Malibu and lemonade and that was £4.25 so drinks I suppose were pretty normal for down south.
The food was not fantastic and did taste a bit like something that had been reheated and was not ...
