On my recent trip to the USA I left Mr Tart to book the hotel for NewYork. Normally I wouldn?t leave it to him as I?d end up in the cheapest hostel but my influence is obviously rubbing off as he came up trumps with the Hilton!
LOCATION:
The HiltonGardenInn is located at 63 West 35th Street. We wanted something pretty central so we could pay for as little transport as possible. We couldn?t really have done much better. We were a two minute walk from Macys (very important for the girls!) and a 10 minute walk to TimesSquare. There was also a subway stop literally 10 metres from the entrance to the hotel.
PRICES:
We stayed in the hotel for two nights. Mr Tart booked through Priceline so we didn?t know exactly what we were going to get but he?d stipulated area and minimum star rating. We paid $293.03 which came through ...

Having done some research on the net before travelling I was expecting a huge shopping mall underneath the hotel as the lobby isn't until the 21st floor but although there are shops (including a massive HMV), restaurants and a 25 screen cinema they are separate from the anything to do with the hotel.
The hotel is about a 30 second walk to the nearest subway station and about 3 mintues from the heart of TimesSquare. You are also in walking distance of Macey's (6/7 blocks), a flagship Gap and Victoria's Secret and plenty of other shops and attractions (Madisson SquareGardens, river cruises, theatres etc etc).
The HiltonTimesSquare has two entrances, one on 42nd Street and one on 41st street. When giving directions to your cab driver make sure you give them the 41st street entrance as this is quieter and you have time to get out ...
Advantages: Fantastic Location - you couldn't wish for a nicer part of the city to stay in Disadvantages: Reception staff are a little unfriendly - DO NOT USE THE IN ROOM PHONE!!!!!!
I visited The Westin in October 2005 as a gift from my parents for my 21st birthday, they treated myself and my boyfriend to a 5 night stay in a superior room. I'll start by giving you some afcts about the hotel and then i'll give you my experience.
The Westin NewYork at TimesSquare is on the corner of 43rd Street and 8th Avenue, it has 863 rooms and 126 club rooms and suites. It has a restaurant (shula's steak house) a bar (bar 10) and a coffee shop that does eat in and take away (Cosi's). It has 24 hour room service, a gym and spa, a ticket desk and a gift shop.
