We booked the room online at www.Hilton.co.uk, Hilton guarantee that their best rates are available online. We booked a few months in advance and got a really good rate. Rates do change, at the moment double roms are £110 per night with guest room plus rooms £134. Because I boked well in advance i got a double plus room (gets a sea view, fluffy bath robes etc) for under £100. The Wbsite has info about the hotel including pictures of rooms etc
The hotel is relatively modern with lots of car parking. When we checked in Reception was busy but was very efficient. All the public areas of the hotel were spotlessly clean
On balance a hotel that I'm likely to stay at again. I stayed on a Sunday, arriving in time for Sunday lunch. The Restaurant, the Promenade, has a Carvery which was extremely good with starters of either soup or a help yourself from an impressicve cold table including smoked salmon and parwns, the mains was carved meats and a help yourself wide selection of vegetables, desserts were again self service and included (unusually) hot desserts with good quality custard together with some very nice looking cold desserts. Nice touches included jugs of iced water on the tables. There seemed to be lots of local people there just for lunch, which is of course a really good sign.
After eating to excess at lunch we ate dinner that night in the hotel. The Service was good although when ordering we specifically indicated that my Partner had an allergy to Tomatoes. Tomatoes then appeared on her plate with the starter...The rest of the Meal we ate was actually quite nice although not outstanding, although the goat chese salad starter was nice. That said both Sunday Lunch and dinner that night were in my view extremely good value.
The Buffet breakfast on the Monday morning was to say the least substantial, well cooked, even including rather nice porridge, good quality ingredients. Another orgy of excess...The staff were helpful and proficient.
The Bar Prices were, by Blackpool standards, on the high side but by National Hotel standards not bad (I've paid more more elsewhere...). The bar serves cocktails and also serves bar snacks (after pigging out in the restaurant) we didn't try the bar snacks although we did have some cocktails, which were OK
The hotel rooms themselves were bright and clean. They were however standard hotel rooms lacking in any real character. Sea views, sort of...That said I have some nice photos I took of the sea front at night. The beds were really comfortable with god quality bedding. Like the rest of the hotel the rooms were spotlessly clean. The furnishings were good quality and in good condition. My room had a nice sized bathroom, so no problems with tight showers, with bath and over the bath power shower. The rooms have playstations, along with the usual bits
One of the real advantages of the hotel is its location it is sea front but at the opposite end of Blackpool to the pleasure beach which makes it much quieter than other more centrally based hotels.
Thanks for the review, I have just booked to staay here later in the year and its very helpful to hear from people who have stayed there, from what you say it sounds like we have made a good decision.
Think my sister has booked this hotel for us in the next couple of weeks so wanted a bit of reassurance - got that from your review (hope I got the right hotel lol). Thanks for that. Ayesha x
ive been in here but not stayed, it seemed ok but a bit too 'blackpool' inside for me.
im not sure how they got 5star rating for this hotel in my opinion, the de vere at herons reach is better - but its horses for courses
a good review though
