I went to the Hilton for 3 nights from 27th-30th December 08 during the Christmas period. I went with a friend and her family who had gone to the Hilton the previous Christmas. The rooms were £99 per night for 2 people which I thought was very reasonable. (Although I'm aware depending on season ... Read review

Arrival and Check-in When we arrived at the hotel we were directed to an underground car-park. I wasn't too keen on the car park which comprised rows of 3 cars tightly parked together actually parking each other in! Our car was at the front yet I'm not sure how the third car back would go about getting out! We did have to leave the keys on reception (so they could move the car if required ...

We have never been so disappointed with a supposedly 'luxury' hotel. Despite booking a 'deluxe' room, the room was tiny, the bath was stained and suitable only for the short of limb, the 'castle' view was of the castle car park and the deluxe package of fruit, wine, dressing gowns was no where to be found. It was all hard work, phoning reception to point out everything missing, being woken by the cleaners at 8.50 on a Sunday morning, and being given ...

Advantages: Great mid-town location. Newly renovated Disadvantages: Large. Service is spotty.
...If you're looking for a business class hotel in mid-town Manhattan, you can't go wrong with the Hilton New York. It's between 53rd and 54th Street and 6th Ave (Ave of the Americas) and is therefore located within walking distances to Broadway theatres (one block over on 7th Ave), Rockefeller Center (down 6th Ave @ 50th Street) and offices in Mid-Town Manhattan.
Access to the hotel is easy via subway and parking is available for $40/night. It's main competition is the Sheraton a block away on 7th Ave. The Hilton is a huge hotel (over 1000 rooms with 44 floors) and is a busy during convention season.
We visited New York in October and stayed at the Hilton for 2 nights with our children and what follows below is a recap of our experience.
Rates: We used Hotwire and managed to get a great $135/night rate. The standard weekday...

The Conrad International is a chain of superior hotels and in the group (which l have mentioned is part of the overall Hilton Group) includes such top class hotels as The Waldorf Towers, in New York or the Conrad Istanbul. So l was staying is style!!
Overall Thoughts
I enjoyed my stay immensely and as l was not picking up the bill it made my stay even more enjoyable! This is also the reason l have not commented on tariffs, but if you wish to book, check out rates or take a closer look at the hotels in the group check out www.conradhotels.com. I enjoyed my stay, and l would go back! Funnily, Paul has been back a few times since – the Hilton...

The main reception at the Waldorf is well worth visiting even if you aren't actually staying at the hotel. It is steeped in history, with Noel Cowards piano in the Cocktail Terrace situated in the main entrance, and a large ornamental clock, designed for the World trade Fair, in reception. The enormous bouquets of fresh flowers are beautiful.
I'm afraid I can't remember the cost of the trip, I think it was in the region of £1200 for two people for 4 nights, including flights from Heathrow with Virgin (booked as a package through Expedia). It may sound a bit expensive, but when you consider you are staying at one of the Worlds most famous hotels I don't think it's too bad.
If, like me, you fell in love with New York from watching old black and white films, then this is the hotel to stay in. Just be aware that now that the Hilton group...
