I had never heard of the Hilton London Docklands before I had booked, but ended up having two fantastic days in late February this year.

The Hilton London Docklands is built directly opposite Canary Wharf on the other side of the Thames, an area of massive redevelopment. Out of London this area has still got a reputation of being rough, but in reality in now consists of expensive townhouses and Luxury apartments. The hotel itself has well over 800 rooms and is split into three wings.

Me and my partner had booked a double room, but discovered that it looked more like a large studio flat, considering the price of property in London these days, I was rather pleasantly surprised. There was also a settee and table and chairs and cable TV. The bathroom was gorgeous and the whole place was extremely clean and well keep.

The reception/customer services desk was manned by extremely polite and helpful staff, something which to me was the key factor in my enjoyment. There is a large bar area situated towards the centre of the hotel and it is very reasonably priced, a lager and a large coke came to under a fiver.

The only criticism I have of this hotel is the standard of my evening meal, having cost me twenty pound for the main meal alone, I was disappointed with the quality of the food, which I thought was undercooked and cold. However, the breakfast I had the next morning was absolutely gorgeous on the taste buds and I feel that maybe I had been unlucky the previous morning.

I had no trouble getting into central London for shopping and there is a tube station and bus stop close by (although I have forgotten the name of the Tube Station!). I would thoroughly recommend a stay in the Hilton London Docklands, the most pleasing factor being the levels of customer service.

It sounds a fantastic place to stay. Shame about the meal though. Maureen

I always thought its quite a long way to the city side of London, so never bothered booking this hotel.
