INTRODUCTION

The Hilton London Metropole hotel is situated about 10 minutes walk down the Edgeware Road from Oxford Street. It is conveniently close to the Edgeware Road Tube Station and many bus links. Marylebone train station is about 20 minutes walk away, or 5 minutes on the bus.

ENTRANCE

The entrance of this Hilton hotel is beautifully classy. After you have walked through a dark marble exterior entrance, and crossed a small taxi bypass, you will be greeted by a helpful employee and you will step into the rotating entrance door. As you walk onto the marble flooring, you are met with a fairly dimly lit, but marvellous hallway. There is a bar and seating area to your right, a concierge desk straight in front of you and the check-in desks are to your left. The multi-lingual staff on the check-in arrange a room for you and hand over an electronic card to you, which is used to enter your room.

FACILITIES

There are many facilities at the hotel. There is a gym complex and a swimming pool, which is slighly on the small side. There are three places to eat. The first is the Fiamma restaurant on the ground floor. This is also where you will eat your breakfast at the hotel. The buffet breakfast should be inclusive with each night of your stay. One can choose from a traditional English fry-up, a continental menu consisting of cereals and pastries and freshly squeezed juices. The idea of the large buffet breakfast is to save the customers from the high cost of cooked food in London. The Fiamma restaurant also has a bar, which shows sports fixtures. Another place to eat is in the comfort of your own room. However, a tray charge of £3.50 will be incurred when one uses this service. The final place to eat is in the elaborate, jaw-dropping, top-floor, Thai restaurant Nippon Tuk. The views from the restaurant are breathtaking. You can see right across the city whilst enjoying your delicately-prepared Thai dinner. On the ground floor, there is an internet cafe, where one can access the internet for no charge. However, it is worth pointing out that although the hotel is keen to boast of its internet connections in every single room, these cost money.

YOUR ACCOMMODATION

The rooms themselves are comfortable. The rooms that I have stayed in on my visits have two extremely comfortable queen-sized beds, which crisp, white linen as standard, a television with the major English terrestrial channels, a massive window with a view over either the city or into a peculiar, modern apartment block and plenty of capacity for storage. There is air-conditioning, which isn't always as effective as one may wish, a seating area with a table and a desk, and a telephone, including the 'Magic' button which can be used to request anything from tonight's dinner or some more pillows. The bathroom is delightful, with a toilet, sink and bath/shower. The rooms contain toiletries. It is now that I see it appropriate to mention that the rooms are cleaned on a daily basis.

ADVANTAGES

The advantages of your stay are that the hotel is extremely comfortable and the staff are always willing to help. The concierge are extremely knowledgable, and if you are planning on visiting attractions across the city, don't hesitate to ask them for the appropriate bus number or tube line. They also can provide you with maps. The buffet breakfast is a major pull; it can keep you going until dinner if you eat enough! Another is the cosmipolitan nature of the location; one can experience the cuisine of a plethora of countries.

DISADVANTAGES

The disadvantages are that it is very costly to eat at the restaurant. The Edgeware road isn't the friendliest place in the world, but it hardly matters; you can remain couped up in your room if you aren't bothered.

All in all, the hotel treats every customer as its only one and it is certainly an experience of luxury and leisure. Visit the official website to book here: http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/LONMETW-Hilton-London-Metropole-hotel/index.do .
