My boyfriend booked two nights in this hotel for me as a Christmas present. On arrival by tube it was very easy to find. The hotel is serviced by Edgware Road station on the Bakerloo, Distirct and Circle lines and so has excellent connections. It's impossible to miss the hotel on exiting the staion. Although we didn't use the buses there was a constant stream of them up and down Edgware Road.
First impressions on walking into the hotel were brilliant. The reception and bar area were one massive space, all marble and luxury. The check-in service was excellent, and in spite of there being a queue we were sorted quickly and directed to the lifts to find our room. This hotel is huge, but the rooms and lifts well signed and easy to find.
The room was lovely, with a massive comfortable bed and nice bathroom, usual hospitality tray etc. The view out of the window was nothing great, of a police station but in central London I have found very few hotels can offer a good view, and at least this one was not of a brick wall two feet away! There wasn't all that much space, but the room was well designed. The beds were definitely designed for a good night's sleep, with plenty of pillows and a very comfortable matress. The only thing I would say is that the decor was a little dated - but I know the hotel was being refurbished while we were there so maybe they are better now.
We were booked into the hotel's restaurant for dinner on our first night as part of our room package, and the meal we had was way above the standard I expected for such a bargain. The service in the restaurant was brilliant, discreet and efficient and the food was excellent.
After a good night's sleep in the room we went down for breakfast. The breakfast room was busy and hectic but just like the night before the service was excellent. There was a massive choice for breakfast - pretty much everything you could think of from full english to waffles and pancakes, and a chef on hand to cook your eggs fresh any way you want. It was the best breakfast I've ever had, with everything fresh and well cooked inspite of the massive quantities there was to be made.
In the local area, there are plenty of shops on Edgware Road, and a very handy Costa and M&S Simply Food for stocking up for a day out.
All in all my experience of this hotel was a very good one, and I would recommend it to anyone. While it wasn't the cheapest option experience tells me it's worth paying for something you know you can trust and this hotel was it. We paid £200 for 2 nights B&B with one night's dinner, which was a special offer and a real bargain so it's worth looking out for these - we booked through Londontown.com.
