Book direct through Hiltons website and you can search for offers on Hilton breaks. I did just that and it came up with 1 nights accommodation, dinner for 2 and breakfast for just over £100.
The Hilton was very easy to get to by train and our room, although quite small was comfortable (Laura Ashley type furnishings) with bath, shower, beautiful bed, TV, tea coffee making facilities, alarm clock. On requesting an ironing board & ice bucket from reception we only waited about 5 mins before a member of staff brought these items to our room.
After lounging about for a couple of hours and a long bath (loads of hot water, towels and the Hilton toiletries are gorgeous) we made our way to the restaurant. 1 thing to note, Saturday night tends to be quite busy so if you're wanting a 7 - 8 O'clock dinner reservation better to book early. The inclusive dinner was from the a la carte menu.... wonderful! Plenty to choose from (including vegetarian) and cooked to perfection. Now, I hate leaving a restaurant feeling hungry, and with the all-inclusive deals this sometimes happens but not here. From starter to sweet was to die for.
After dinner we retired to a beautiful Georgian style sitting room and sat in a huge sofa by an open fire drinking gourmet coffees and unwinding. No drunks or children to spoil the ambiance.
Back in our room we had an un-interrupted nights sleep. My husband is a very light sleeper so the corridors must have been quiet.
Breakfast was buffet style in a downstairs dining room (there are lifts) which was overseen by a lovely old lady who obviously took great pride in looking after people. Great coffee (again), cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts and a wonderful spread of hot Scottish fayre. A chef was present at all times to cook your eggs however you liked them and you could return as often as you liked to the buffet and order as many Cafe Tiers of coffee or pots of tea as you liked.
Check-out was at 11:30. This was very smooth and pleasant with the receptionist agreeing without hesitation to store our luggage while we took a walk and she also had a lot of local knowledge that she gladly shared.
After a walk we collected our luggage and made our way to the train station feeling relaxed and unwound.
This was excellent value for money and I would recommend a break like this to anyone who feels they need to get away from home for a couple of days.
