Hilton Paris La Defense, Paris

Advantages: It's the height of fashion daaahhhling
Disadvantages: It's ability to be tres expensive

...It's no secret that I like expensive things, so when my partner told me we were going to Paris for a weekend, I was beside myself with excitement and worry. Ok, with a destination such as Paris you can't really go wrong, but when you've got a partner like mine, the choice of hotel can leave a lot to be desired. (Like the time we went to Thailand and he thought it would be great to live in a hut for a week with the local wildlife. Not funny) However, he decided he would keep it a secret until we arrived. As we drove along Rue de Coucelles, it became very apparent that he had made the correct choice. A massive "Hilton" sign appeared in view, and my excitement trebelled. Advantages: Lots to see and do, the metro,
Disadvantages: Eating out can be expensive, everyone else is there too (everyone loves Paris)

...only had a hole in the wall coffee shop and a duty free shop slightly larger than our Paris hotel room! Conclusion I'm sure that I will get a few questions about why we didn't visit this or that. When we went to Paris the last time we did visit places like La Défense, the Dôme church and Napoleons tomb, the Pantheon church, Cité de Science, Jardin de Luxembourg etc so I feel that we have been able to cover quite a lot of Paris during our two trips :-) So was it magical being Paris again? I could have wished for better weather but apart from that I have to say that Paris still has a special place in my heart. Yes, there is an excessive amount of dog poop on the pavements all over the city; you might get hassled by overzealous beggars around the main attractions; you might have to pay a bit more than you'd like to to get into different... Advantages: Always something to do, beautiful place.
Disadvantages: Not enough hours in the day

...of the Arc, you have to climb more steps, so far the lifts have never worked when I've got there... It's hard work but well worth it. You can see the Sacre Coeur from here, and you can appreciate the distance you have to travel between the two places. You get to see the layout of Paris, it's beautifully arranged, with lots of long straight roads, and if you go at Christmas time, you see all the lights. You can get a few souvenirs from inside the Arc too. Walking down is far easier than going up! Shopping! A huge well known shopping center is called Gallerie la Fayette. It's great, some of it is a little bit pricey, and as usual the building is beautiful on the inside. At Christmas time they have an ENORMOUS Christmas tree, its lovely to look around even if you don't buy anything. Catacombs. I've not been able to visit... Read review
