We stayed at the Hilton Sharm Dreams in Sharm el Sheik in September 07 for 7 nights. Overall the stay was pleasant, but I think that if I returned to Sharm el Sheik then I would try a different hotel (we have stayed at the Hilton in Dahab and the Intercontinental in Hurghada, both of which I preferred to this hotel)

On arrival at the hotel, check in was relatively painless. The rooms themselves were fine, although not as luxurious as some other 5 star Egyptian hotels I have stayed in. They were quite large and we had a terrace with a table and chairs and also a table and chairs inside the room.

The bathroom was adequate and quite clean, although again, not fantastic. After using up the toiletries within the room, we had to wait a number of days for these to be refreshed and even then we didn't get a full selection (which I found quite frustrating). The room was cleaned everyday without fail however.

We did have tea/coffee making facilities within the room, but no kettle. We received a kettle after after a number of times at reception, but only for one day after which it mysteriously disappeared. We gave up in the end!

The location of the hotel was quite good. We were using Regal Dive and picked the hotel specifically due to its proximity to the dive centre (which was situated in the hotel next door), so a very short walk for us in the morning. It wasn't on the beach side of the road, but if you crossed the road there was another Hilton hotel (you could use their facilities and their beach if you liked, although we didn't) and you could walk through its grounds to get to a seafront promenade. This then took you into Na'ama Bay in a leisurely 15 mins walk. The walk was actually really nice as you are away from car fumes, and in the evening there are just lots of people strolling around, stopping at bars and restaurants etc.

We ate at the buffet for breakfast each morning. There was quite a selection of food, but we did find that as we were in a rush to go diving, there often was not what we wanted as they were just cooking it. I would have also liked some more fresh fruit. We did find that tea/coffee was served at the table and about half the times we ended up leaving the restaurant without having a cup as there was no one around to serve.

We ate in the restaurants (both Italian and Tex Mex) at the hotel a couple of evenings and weren't all that impressed with the food. It was expensive for what you got (we only paid for B&B). We did glance at the buffets and didn't fancy any of the food on offer. Later in the week we found food along the promenade along the seafront, which was much more reasonably priced, with a much nicer view!

There were a number of bars, but we did find that in the evening there was entertainment on offer if you were Italian, but there wasn't a lot for English speakers. We preferred to go elsewhere.

The swimming pools were good and we always managed to find available loungers by them. There weren't many people around and so the pools were never busy. These were probably one of the best features of the hotel and if you had children would probably be fantastic.

To conclude, I would probably stay at the hotel again if there was a fantastic special offer, but would like to try out other hotels and some points (as mentioned above) let this hotel down.

Good points:
• Short transfer from the airport
• Location (although not directly next to the beach) - short walk into Na'ama Bay

Bad points:
• Not much evening entertainment for English speakers
• Food and drink are expensive if you are not all inclusive
• Housekeeping was not very good

Good review but I'd want to know how much it cost as I wouldn't be able to work out whether or not it would be within my price range. Do let me know (via a guestbook message) if you update and I'll be happy to reread/rerate as appropriate :)
