Where is Strasbourg?
Strasbourg is in the North East region of France in Alsace which is on the border with Germany. It has a chequered history in that it has been at different times throughout history either in Germany or in France. It is currently of course in France. The region has its own dialect of French known as Alsacien with a combination of French and German words.

The first impression was so-so, we came out...

The large number of museums means that no-one goes away with an empty mind. For example, the 'Musée Alsacien' covers the history of life in the region, the characteristics of the region, the crafts and much more.
The city is supported by a mayor who is very ecologically minded and as a result, an electric tram system was setup, running very frequently through the city from a park and ride area.
The city itself is of great beauty, the wonderful medieval cathedral and many interesting monuments. The added charm comes from the quaint cafés and restaurants that line some of the cobbled streets, in between...
