The Hilton Vienna Plaza is an excellent hotel located on the Ringstrasse in Central Vienna, I will talk more about the hotels location later on. Before I arrived at the hotel I emailed the manager with a few questions about the local area and the hotel etc. The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and I received an email back with all of my questions answered which was helpful. It took around twenty minutes to get to the hotel from the Airport, although on my way back to the airport at the end of my stay it took about thirty minutes because of heavier traffic.
Check-in was fast and very efficient, the hotel staff were friendly and gave me a map of the local area. I booked to stay in a standard king room, the rooms at the hotel are a very nice size. The bed was very comfortable and there was a chaise longue, desk, television, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, a brilliant view looking out at the city, and a clean en-suite. I paid around £110.00 per night (Bed and Breakfast) and thought that the hotel offered good value accommodation for the amount charged.
The hotel is located in central Vienna, however, in order to get to the central shopping district it is about a ten minute walk, which I didn't mind, although it was hot (as I visited Vienna in July). Vienna itself is a wonderful city and I would highly recommend a visit to anyone, the locals are very friendly and are happy to help if you are stuck, there is plenty to do (good shopping facilities, great coffee shops, restaurants, are galleries, the Cathedral is well worth a visit and very dramatic, located just outside the centre of Vienna is the "Prater" which is a funfair with a number of rides and a giant ferries wheel).
The hotel doesn't have a swimming pool, although is does have a sauna and a fitness room, although I can't comment on what they are like personally, as I didn't use them during my stay. The Hotels Restaurant is very good, although it is a little more expensive on average than a standard restaurant in the city is. I used the hotel Restaurant when I first arrived at the hotel, the menu was varied with local cuisine and the food was cooked to a very high standard, the service was also very good.
Included with my room rate was breakfast, breakfast was very good with plenty to choose from, such as a full cooked breakfast along with a continental selection such as croissants, bread rolls, fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee etc. The breakfast staff were very helpful and there were plenty of staff.
I'd recommend this hotel if you are planning on visiting Vienna, it offers good service and friendly staff. Vienna itself is a charming city and I hope to go back one day!
