In my search for a Viennahotel I was looking for something classy and plush, somewhere I could get engaged in style! I also wanted somewhere fairly cental to the main attractions of the city.
I would have to say that this is one of the best hotels I have stayed in! For those who have stayed in Hiltons before, you know what to expect! Instant concierge service as soon as you walk in, luggage attendants who take you to your room, and fast, efficient room service all make for a top-notch overall service . The rooms themselves are very clean and modern; ours had a large flat screentelevision, desk, and tea/coffee making facilities as you'd hope! Very comfortable and quiet too. Not much of a view for us as we had an inward facing room, but if you're lucky enough to have an outward facing room I'm sure that the view from the tall building would be pretty good!
The hotel itself was pretty busy during our stay and mostly with business men and conferences, as the hotel offers many services for such people. Breakfast was to a high standard as was the evening restaurant, where the food was quite delicious; expensive, but tasty!
In terms of location, if you are indeed there as a tourist or quick visitor, the hotel is ideally placed to reach the main city centre. A 5/10 minute walk will lead you to the city's cathedral, Stephansdom, and from there you can find the main shopping streets of the city with all the big brand shops and designer brands, and such attractions as the Hofburg Palace and the Spanish Riding School. If you go in the opposite direction then it'll take up to an hour to find the famous Vienna Wheel or the Danube Tower with its rotating restaurant/cafe. It's probably best to use public transport to find these places, as it's easy to get lost trying to navigate the sidepaths and river walkways!
Overall, we were very happy with the hotel and everything it had to offer. You have to pay above average prices, but shop around and you should be able to find some good deals! I recommend visiting the city towards the end of the year when the Christmas Markets are up and running; wonderful!
