Quick review of Hofbräuhaus (Munich) Review ofHofbräuhaus (Munich)by
rmargeson
Even at lunch time, the Hofbrauhaus is good experience (wunderbar as they say in Germany). The beer was good, the food filling and hot and delicious. The oompah bad started at about noon and added to the experience. We are planning on going their again, this time for a Friday evening.

Advantages: Beautiful City, Great Food, Wonderful Museums, Close to Alps Disadvantages: Too Many Tourists In The Summer
...'In Munich Stands a Hofbräuhaus'…or so, roughly translated, runs one well-known staple of Munich's beerhall sing-alongs. For many who've never visited this charming city (and perhaps, even for a few who have…) this, along with the even better-known Oktoberfest, an event which, to all intents and purposes, is little more than the Hofbräuhaus writ large, condensed into a month & transferred on to a circus ground, is pretty much all that Munich amounts to. Well, it isn't.
MY MUNICH: I lived in Munich for about four years, in the late-seventies and early eighties. My earliest memories of the Hofbräuhaus involve sitting outside it in a parked Mercedes with my two brothers, when I was about six. Our father would drop in to have a beer, or two, with his German work colleagues, leaving us to wait squabbling in the back seat for an hour or so...

Advantages: one of the must-see cities in Germany Disadvantages: none really
...others during the day, two other men to be precise, which isn´t a striking figure, however, considering that Munich has 1 300 000 inhabitants (it´s the third largest German city after Berlin and Hamburg). They were all old and I assume that they get some pocket money from the tourist office to uphold the cliché that all Bavarians dress like that.
From there we went through some side streets to the Hofbräuhaus, the best known inn in the world. We met the ´Third Reich Walk´, also called ´Hitler´s Munich´ there, which got a more profound insight into history, but besides some vital info on beer (150 000 litres are pumped into the tank in the cellar every week) and the guests´ proper behaviour (Men, listen! If you don´t want to look like a sissy, don´t hold the 1 litre glass mug by its handle, but slip your hand through the handle and put...

Advantages: Very good beer-served in the huge one litre glass Disadvantages: No
...A trip to Munich is not complete without a visit to a beer hall and the best place to go is definitely the Hofbrauhaus or the Royal Brewery.
It is one of the best and the oldest beer hall in Munich. In November 1921, Hitler's storm troops first gained notoriety in what became known as the Battle of Hofbrauhaus. It is a must-go place for tourist and it's worth trying the tradiational beer there served in a one litre beer glass-another good photo opportunity.
They do all the typical beer in the area such as the weibier ( a light brew) and the dunkle( a dark sweet brew). Personally I like the weibier with a milder taste. The food there is not exceptional but the beer is excellent, kind of make up for it.Having dinner and beer is this busy beer hall, with the lively atmosphere, is a very good experience.
One litre of beer...
