Advantages: Good restaurants, shopping Disadvantages: Not so nice beach
...out! The night-life in Holetown is not that exciting.....but if you prefer to spend your evenings just enjoying a relaxing drink like I do, then this is probably the place for you. It's very easy to relax in Holetown.
The shopping here is very good, it is easy to pick up some cheap bargains and also leave with some of the authentic gifts....don’t forget to buy some rum before you leave!
The only thing that disappointed me about Holetown ... ...we noticed it didn’t really happen when we visited other beaches on the island. People are friendly in Holetown though, and they do make you feel really welcome. Despite this, it is easy to get to other beaches nearby, as public buses run through the town constantly.

Holetown…..it hasn’t got the most flattering name, but it definitely has some good points! This is where I stayed for my two weeks of glorious Caribbean sun. Although I stayed in self-catering accommodation, there are many attractive hotels within Holetown. The thing I loved most about this place were the trendy restaurants, my favourite being Angry Annies, which had Jasper Carrott the much-loved comedian from over here, dining in whilst I was there. There are also many fast food restaurants if you need a cheap night out! The night-life in Holetown is not that exciting.....but if you prefer to spend your evenings just enjoying a relaxing drink like I do, then this is probably the place for you. The shopping here is very good, it is easy to pick up some cheap bargains and also leave with some of the authentic gifts....don’t forget to buy some rum before you leave! The only thing that disappointed me about Holetown is it’s beach and I do believe this to be an important factor on a Caribbean holiday. The beach is very small and narrow, and can easily become crowded. Many locals approach you to sell gifts on the beach here, it can get a bit much sometimes, and we noticed it didn’t really happen when we visited other beaches on the island. People are friendly in Holetown though, and they do make you feel really welcome. Despite this, it is easy to get to other beaches nearby, as public buses run through the town constantly.
Advantages: Very Scenic, Close To Shops, Restaurants And Watersports Disadvantages: Traffic can become very busy, Size of beach varies
...Barbados on my transfer to Holetown you soon realise that the town is one of the most scenic on the island. I also noticed the large traffic jams that developed during the rush hours, however this doesnt really matter if you get a taxi as the drivers knew the area very well and always found a quicker route.
One of the most talked about issues regarding Holetown are the beaches, or lack of. When i was there the beach was at most 2-3 meters wide and ... ...i'd definately go back to Holetown due to the facilities and the fact you can do everything you want, be it a relaxing pool side holiday or an action packed watersports one, within the one town.
*Edit* Just a quick note to say that during my two weeks i saw Billy Ocean (the singer) Gary Lineker (tv sport presenter) and a family in the same hotel saw Tony Blair (PM of England) his wife and children! ...

Advantages: Great Shopping, Great People, Great restuarants. Disadvantages: not a very nice beach, and it flooded whilst we were there!!
...thing that i found in holetown was that, everyone and anyone was willing to help you if you were lost, or needed something that you couldnt find.

Advantages: Home to some of the best people yourll ever meet Disadvantages: Roads by the beach can be very fast
There was a lovely little place called o cristals just over the road, by a lovely beach. There is not alot of beach by holetown, but you dont have to go very far at all really to find one. So isnt really a problem. There was alot of beach by fitts village and you could walk down and up it to find where you wanted to swim as barbados never allows anyone to privitise the beach. There is some amazeing beautiful things to see and we also found ourselves ... ...We rented jet skis from people off the beach, the 4 stroke engines go like hell. The 2 strokes go fast even with two people on. I will always have warm and loveing feelings for barbados and its amazeing people. They are so helpfull and are great to talk to. Barbados gave me a true feeling of being human and how much a person can enjoy themselves and enjoy being around others. Even if you didnt know them. This was my secound time to barbados, and ...

Advantages: Great weather, gourgeous beaches and the people are really something!! Disadvantages: Long haul flight, you have to like reggae music!
I believed that the Caribbean was restricted to those who could afford lavish holidays, however I was pleased to find when choosing a holiday that it is possible to have a holiday in Barbados when you are on a budget?.and few of the Caribbean islands can equal Barbados for its broad spectrum of panorama and mood
We stayed on the expensive coastline of St James in the lovely Holetown. The complex where we stayed is known as Sunset Crest, and provided us with access to the same beaches and restaurants as those staying in top-of-the-range hotels, but for half the price! It is possible to stay on a limited budget, we enjoyed the locally produced drinks and ate at the fast food restaurants such as Cheffette when we needed a less expensive meal out. The accommodation was more than adequate and we even watched monkeys early in the morning ...
Advantages: Its simply awesome, relax unwind, revive and be you Disadvantages: When you leave to go home
on the left. Private taxis are expensive and the normal taxis take upto 5 people for 1 standard fee, so get out there meet people and have some fun. Buses are in abundance and are 1.5 dollar for a flat fee, this is even better to way to explore, sometimes crowded, but then so is London Underground.
FOOD
Food is less expensive if you plan to go halfboard or if you can afford full board, if you plan to do self-catering cost of food in the supermarket is high, Salad, Fruit & Vegetables is 3 times what it cost in England. Best value meals is the street van vendors.
