It was very easy to find, literally 2 mins off the M6. While the exterior did have a slight council flat look to it, the reception area ... ...had a room that seemed to be miles away, although we found a slightly quicker route later!
The room was clean and tidy. It had a desk and chair along with a small 'dining' table and chair. There was a 'room service' service although it did look rather expensive (to be expected I suppose!).

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Birmingham M6, Jct. 7 last weekend. I paid £54 for two people bed and breakfast. This was direct from the Holiday Inn website and was the best I could find. It was slightly cheaper because it was advance payment, although as it was on my credit card I've still not actually paid! It was very easy to find, literally 2 mins off the M6. While the exterior did have a slight council flat look to it, the reception area was lovely. Check in was smooth and speedy. We had a room that seemed to be miles away, although we found a slightly quicker route later! The room was clean and tidy. It had a desk and chair along with a small 'dining' table and chair. There was a 'room service' service although it did look rather expensive (to be expected I suppose!). The bathroom was on the compact side, but again it was clean and all in working order. There was soap, shampoo, bubble bath and hair-dryer although you could also get razors, toothpaste, sewing kits etc from reception if you'd forgotten yours. The hotel is joined to a spa. This gives guests free access to the gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. You also get free towels for use there. The pool was nice. Big enough to do decent lengths, probably about 10-15 meters. Jacuzzi was nice and certainly hot. A cold shower was certainly a relief after that and the sauna! Changing room facilities were clean, lockers require a £1 coin. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic. Huge range of cereals, fruit and delicious full English. There was also fruit juice and tea and coffee was served at your table. The area was ok, the hotel is set back from the main road. Not far away is a choice of take-aways, chip shops, Indian, Cantonese, Chinese, pizza, kebabs etc. There's also a carvery called the Malt Shovel, which isn't far. It looked good, but it was full when we went (must be good).
We went the night before travelling to the NEC. It's position made it idea. It only took about 15 minutes or so to get there and the hotel was far cheaper than any near the NEC while an exhibition is on!
Would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay again. There aren't many places where you can bet B+B for 2 people for £54 (was £44 room only) AND have access to a gym and pool.
The only problem I had was hearing people during the night. I'm a light sleeper anyway so I guess that doesn't help, maybe we just had noisy neighbours that night!
