Well were do I start about this place, I work for the company so I know what to expect especially when it comes to food. When we arrived we got the key card to the room to then find out that they had given us a double room when we had booked a family room. They corrected this room quickly but the room they gave us still wasn't a family room but had a sofa bed with a pull out bed underneath.
The leisure facilities were ok but the jacuzzi was out of order and this wasn't fixed whilst we stayed there over 3 days.
Now for the food, nothing was to specification. The first meal my husbands starter, it didn't have bread with the pate and my friends didn't have bread with the brie starter and then we got charged for rustic breads which it should have been included since it said it on the menu. The next night in the restaurant it was a carvery (using the term loosely). It was more a deli style and the options were very poor. We ordered the kids food when we ordered the drinks and we hadn't started eating at this point and we waited a few minutes but decided to start eating our starters. We were halfway through eating our main course when the kids meals still hadn't turned up so I asked where they were and that's when I got told that the check had come through a different printer so it would only take a few minutes. A few minutes passed and they turned up with the meals, Chicken fajitas and Shepard's pie. The kids were so hungry that they ate it quickly and then we eventually went to bed. The next day my son that had the chicken fajitas was being sick and he had diarrhoea, I didn't get chance to check to see if they were cooked through and I wish I did. All day and night we was confined to the room so my husband ordered food from the lounge menu and they said they'd take it to the room for us, when it got there the potato wedges were cold, there was no BBQ sauce, I asked for the chicken and bacon salad but instead I got Holiday inn club sandwich so I sent it back except the potato wedges because I was really hungry at this point. When they came back with the salad it had BBQ sauce on my salad which I didn't want because I wanted the sauce in a separate bowl to go with my potato wedges so before I sent it back this time I asked for the duty manager, when he arrived I explained where I was from and which part of the hotel I worked in, I told him all I want is my salad when he asked if I would like anything else because I wasn't after a freebie, all I wanted was my order to be correct. When they eventually got the order right it was still not totally to specification but it was correct to a point and I was willing to pay for it. The other bad experiences we had was with the breakfast and I know if the customer leaves not enjoying breakfast then they will leave an unhappy customer because that's the last meal they have before they go, there were hardly anything there for fruit and yoghurt's, the toaster didn't work either but that's a common problem that we have because ours doesn't work either. It was like that every morning.
Everyday after a certain time the key-cards would reset so You couldn't get back into your room, which was very annoying cause we had a room at the end of a maze of corridors furthest away from reception.
In the corridors there was room-service trays that had been left more than 12 hours so nobody looked after the cleanliness of the hotel and the smell was nasty with it being warm as well.
When it came to checking out even that was a bad experience with me being a member I get a percentage of food and drink but instead of taking it off they added it on so that was a shock to the system and 2 of the staff didn't know what they were doing behind the desk because they were short staffed and with it being a busy bank holiday you need your staff in. All I can say is stay at a better hotel than this because even a B&B is a lot better than this hotel but hopefully soon they will be improving it or so I've been told. If anyone has a great experience from this hotel can you please let me know. I'm never going to go again.
