Holiday Inn Continental Hotel, Lisbon

...an amazing stay at the Holiday Inn Continental, Lisbon which is centrally located between Av. República/Av. Berna and is just 10 minutes away from Lisbon International Airport and walking distance from Campo Pequeno subway station, Entrecampos train station and main public buses busstop. At £65 a night inclusive of breakfast, this was a bargain which we could not pass up!

From the outside the hotel is visually appealing with an elliptical ...

The staff speaks a variety of language including English, French, Spanish and Portuguese and were quite friendly offering us travel advice before we even asked! On a weekend getaway in October, my wife and I had an amazing stay at the Holiday Inn Continental, Lisbon which is centrally located between Av. República/Av. Berna and is just 10 minutes away from Lisbon International Airport and walking distance from Campo Pequeno subway station, Entrecampos train station and main public buses busstop. At £65 a night inclusive of breakfast, this was a bargain which we could not pass up!

From the outside the hotel is visually appealing with an elliptical glass front. Inside is beautiful with a large grand lobby, leather sofas, bar and has over 200 rooms. The lobby appeared to have a gorgeous marble floor, with a modern decor. The staff speaks a variety of language including English, French, Spanish and Portuguese and were quite friendly offering us travel advice before we even asked! We were checked in very quickly and were offered porterage services.

Our room was very large and airy, with a queen sized bed and double glazed windows making it nearly soundproof. One could actually smell the freshness of the sheets and duvet. The view was magnificent on the 15th floor and we awoke each morning to enjoy the sunrise and the reflection against the other glass walled buildings. The rooms are air conditioned, have cable TV, in-house movie channels, safe, direct dial phone, minibar, trouser press, hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities and computer connections. The bathroom was very clean and well kept, with Dove soap and shampoos present. There was also a welcome bag in the room with a shaver, toothbrush, toothpaste, gel.

The best part of our stay has to be the full continental breakfast served daily until 10:30. We awoke early each morning to enjoy as much of the breakfast ambience as we could. We would be greeted by a waiter who poured us our coffee. The breakfast buffet was separated into different sections of a massive servery. There was a continental area with bread, cheeses, bacon, sausages, rolls, eggs (3 types). There was also a section on cereals, porridges and oatmeals and jams. The last section was a variety of fresh peeled fruit, fruit juices, coffee, teas, milks and desserts. It was definitely worth spending almost 2 hours each morning to savour the excellent service and delicious taste of the food.

We also found out that the hotel also offers a fitness center, beauty salon, foreign currency exchange, gift shop and newsstand, a restaurant and bar and parking space for 140 vehicles. Wireless internet access (Wi-Fi) is available in all rooms and public areas. For the business travellers there are 9 meeting rooms set up to accommodate up to 250 participants.

This was definitely the place we would return to next year when we visit Lisbon again!
