We decided to stay over in Coventry and collect our Granddaughter and bring her back for a break near the sea side.
Our choice of hotel was the Holiday Inn because the cost was £37.95 per night and only 1 weeks notice, We usually use Travelodge and get a room for £15 or £26. Concidering there is a gym and swimming pool we felt it was good value.
The room was on the small side but fine for just the one night that we were staying. Shampoo etc provided as was tea and coffee. There was a shortage of towels which were brought to our room so quickly I didn't have time to put the phone down.
The hotel is fairly modern with a wide open reception area with a little coffee shop the dining room was close by . Close by are pubs where you can get a meal. Across the road there is a McDonnel with a large play area for children.
Breakfast was not included but there was an offer on £8 each so we decided to treat our selfs. It was at Breakfast that the hotel showed its true colours. Several staff members failed to come into work on the Sunday morning, and we were greeted at the dining room by the house keeping staff who were working hard to maintain services. The manager had been called in and the maid was waiting for him to arrive and take over so she could do her own job.
This lack of staff did not impact on the quality of the food or the service. The staff were excellent at doing diningroom duties.
The breakfast buffet was excellent, full English or continal. Cereal toast good quality yogurt. Plenty of tea and coffee brought to your table. Danish pasties by the plate full. Small glass pots of jam etc not these plastic pots.
We were so impressed by te service we are staying there Christmas Eve with our daughter and her family, and really looking forward the the break.

I prefer slightly more characte and think £8 extra for the breakfast is pretty steep

I've always found Holiday Inn's to be good value for money on the whole. Shame it isn't a Holiday Inn Express as you get breakie included in the room rate.
