I booked the hotel using a promotion code advertised on the Holiday Inn website (they reguarly have offers, just visit www.holidayinn.co.uk, look at the banner at the top of the page, usually it will be advertising a special rate, click on it and then it'll take you to a new page were you can book). This hotel cost me £32.00 per night, which was brilliant, especially since the rate included a free complimentary breakfast! So my three night stay cost £96.00 for accommadation.
Check-in was simple and easy and the staff were all really friendly. The rooms were basic, this is after all a budget hotel, however, they were clean and quite sufficient with tea and coffee making facilities. The rooms were a nice size and there was a sofa which could also fold out into another double bed. The bed was comfortable and I got a good nights sleep.
The en suite was clean with a shower, and the hotel provided soap and shampoo which was great for a budget hotel as at travelodge you have to take your own. A few channels were available on the television such as CNN, BBC etc. Despite the fact that the the hotel is close to a busy road the rooms are quiet and properly soundproofed.
The hotel has a nice bar area and a restaurant, however, the food was obviously microwaved, although it wasn't expensive so I didn't mind too much. The bar area was nice and a nice feature, the hotel does very nice coffee in the bar area too. The only thing I didn't like was that the reception area doubles up as the bar, restaurant and breakfast area, it perhaps wasn't the best thought out design.
The breakfast was good in the morning, although it was a little busy and they could have done with an extra staff member to ensure that items were restocked quickly. It was a continental breakfast so the items available were cereal, croissants, muffins, toast, fruit, yoghurt, cold meats etc. There was tea and a nice coffee machine too along with orange juice and apple juice, water etc.
Now the hotel is located just outside of Canterbury so as I said earlier you will need a car to be able to get into Canterbury, but the hotel is located in a good position for Canterbury and Dover. There is plenty of parking in front of the hotel so you shouldn't have any problems in that respect.
I would certainly recommend this hotel, for the price you wont find anywhere better, but try and book it using a deal if you can find one as then you are more likely to get a better value rate.
