...away - closer than Charles de Gaulle. However, it may prove costly to get a taxi from the airport to the hotel, so i recommend hiring a car. If you have hired a car, the city centre can be reached within 15 minutes (its about 5km away). The hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the Porte d'Italie metro station, from which you will be able to access the city centre. This is perfect for those people visiting Paris by car but who don't want to deal with the congestion of the city centre! To sum up the Etap Porte d'Italie, i would say that its perfect for a few nights stay, but not for a weeks holiday. This hotel is porbably best suited for groups of three or less, as you will have to book two rooms to accomodate extra persons. .... Good job the Americans invented Holiday Inn so he can't hold that against the French. My colleague said he was jealous and would rather be in my shoes with Paris at my feet for the evening but I wasn't in any mood to take advantage of it. I was on my own, tired and I had work to do. I pre-booked online at the Holiday Inn website which they always say is the cheapest way to book but it also means you have to pay in advance. I later found out that the big boss had paid almost a hundred Euros more than me for his room so it looks like the 'book online' promise was true. As I'd paid already there wasn't a lot to do at the check-in - a heavy looking marble desk in shades of pinkie-brown off set by mid brown and not entirely authentic-looking wood.
