The Holiday Inn Kings Cross/Bloomsbury is a beatifully presented and welcoming hotel. The decor is clean, modern and, to a degree, much more opulent in design than other holiday inns where I have stayed.
The room itself was large with a king size bed and a very nice seating area (which I presume will change to a sleeping area if required. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and about average size for a hotel of its class. The view from the window is disappointing: a narrow street with industrial style buildings surrounding. Close the curtains though and you could be anywhere in the world.
The staff at the hotel are extremely welcoming and accommodating. They were very helpful and could not do enough for you. I found it very interesting to observe how 'international' the staff were. I was very aware of their excellent ability to communicate in various languages to foreign visitors. This is always a very welcoming sign.
As for breakfast: It was just like any other hotel. Continental or cooked. A good selection along with hot and cold drinks etc. As expected. Fills you up ready for the day ahead.
I feel I must comment on the surrounding area. Although the hotel is named London King Cross, do not be fooled. The walk is a lot further than you would imagine and not through the nicest of areas. As a young woman travelling alone I felt quite uneasy even though it was broad daylight. I also felt I could not leave the hotel after dark as the area was rather rough. I would say that this hotel is excellent for anyone travelling on business or who knows London. For tourists, however, there are many more hotel situated in nicer areas closer to the attractions. If you do decide to stay here there are taxis available all the time at the front of the hotel and the staff will be extremely helpful in giving you directions if you do decide to venture on foot.
There is a leisure complex available but I am unable to comment on this as I was unaware of this facility and did not take appropriate wear with me! Never mind, If it's anything like the rest of the hotle, you should be okay.

I stayed there once, and thought it pretty good and not too expensive for Central London. Bloomsbury really isn't a rough area by London standards, and though the hotel's not really near King's Cross, it's just round the corner from Russell Square underground. Duncan
