The Holiday Innin Plymouth is located on Armada Way, up towards Plymouth Hoe. This is a good central location for the Hoe, the Barbican and the city centre, which are all within walking distance.
There are 211 rooms in the hotel, all of which have tea and coffee making facilities, colour TV, desk, bathroom and wardrobe. Each room has individual temperature controls. Rooms available include family, wheelchair accessible ones and also non smoking rooms.
If need be, there are several auxiliary aids available. These include portable induction loops, vibrating pillow and flashing light alarms, large print menus and refrigerated medicine storage.
There is a car park at the hotel which is a multi story car park. There is also a small open air car park across the road which seems just as secure. When parking, my advice is to use the open air car park as the multi story one is not really made for modern cars. We have one of the new Mondeos, and we struggled to park and turn the car round the corners. For the parking it costs £3.50 per stay and both car parks have barriers.
They only pets that are allowed at the hotel are guide dogs. All major debit and credit cards are accepted. The hotel reception is manned 24 hours a day and you can leave valuables in the safety deposit box there.
There is also a restaurant in the hotel, located in the penthouse. Here they do evening meals and breakfast. There are nice views of the Hoe, the sound and the Barbican from here, which I thought was nice at breakfast.
The breakfast was really good. There are a wide range of cereals and fruit available. The cooked breakfast is really tasty and is in the form of a buffet. There is all you could want from a cooked breakfast here.
Facilities at the hotel include a swimming pool, a fully equipped gym, steam room and sauna which are all free of charge. You can also have a beauty treatment too.
When we stayed at the hotel, we had a family room. In total, 7 people could have stayed in the room. There was a normal double bed, a sofa bed, and a bunk bed with a double on the bottom and a single on the top. The room was absolutely huge, but with seven people in it would have been a bit squashed! The bathroom was a decent size too with a bath, shower, toilet and sink. As the room was for a family it was decorated more on the basic side but with a 14 month old son, this was fine by us.
The cost of the room for the night was £99. This included breakfast for two adults and our little monster of a son. Before booking, we looked at other hotels and there was little difference in the cost.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Plymouth. It may not be five star, but it is all you need in a hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and the food is also really good.
