Advantages: Great Staff , 5 min walk into city Disadvantages: small bath
We stayed at the HolidayInn in Cardiff City Centre recently. The reason for our visit was because I was auditioning for the X Factor (again! - I didn't get through :( ) . We chose HolidayInn because we had stayed at the hotel on many occasions before and were pleased with it and it's value for money.
The hotel is located right by the Millenium Stadium. This was convenient for us because the auditioning for the X Factor took place in the Stadium. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk from the high street which was good!
Our room was located overlooking the Stadium's car park. This was good because this was where the queuing for the auditions took place. We were told to be there for 8AM however , when we woke up at 5Am the queue was massive!

Advantages: Excellent self-service breakfast. Clean rooms and good facilities. Disadvantages: Rooms are a bit too small generally. Bit expensive.
On my trips to Leeds I always book into the HolidayInn Express, chiefly because it is the closest hotel to where I need to be. Within this review I refer to my last experience of staying there about 10 months ago.
Outside the building doesn't look too attractive, and the entrance is a bit basic with its blue doors and plants. However, when you make your way through the doors, the lobby is much more impressive. As I approached the counter to sign in, I was greeted by a member of the staff politely within a few seconds. I had already booked so it was just a matter of signing the piece of paper and taking my key card for my room. I was on the 6th of its 7 floors and being rather lazy, decided to take one of the 2 lifts they have. The corridor I travelled down to my room is rather luxurious, and lacks the certain cheap and tacky ...
Advantages: Friendly staff, reasonable price Disadvantages: Haunted? Not in the centre of town, not very modern, basic rooms
I?ve stayed here a couple of times with work. My stays have been fine but I always feel a bit spooked in this hotel. It?s a grey 1970?s style block with other 400 rooms. It?s main purpose seems to be to cater for conferences, it has 23 meeting rooms. It is basically your typical HolidayInn 4 star hotel (not three star as Ciao seems to have it listed)
Now don?t laugh, but on my stays I have kept my bathroom light on and pulled the duvet over my head! The hotel does freak me out a bit, a slight atmosphere. It always seems to be very quiet and it?s quite gloomy inside which doesn?t help. I?ve heard all sorts of rumours about guests staying under the reception desk to sleep, to scared to go back to their rooms, that it?s built on the site of a old hospital that burned down with many deaths, that someone rolled an orange under their bed ...
