The hotel is perfectly positioned for a sightseeing trip to this bustling city…..it 's within a five minute walk of Surasak Skytrain Station, a ten minute walk of the nearest Chao Phraya River Pier - to make use of river taxis and buses - and a ten minute walk in the evening takes you to the bustling Patpong night market.

The entrance road to the hotel is quite understated but once in view of the glass doors there is definitely a sense that this is most definitely a hotel with a bit of class.
On arrival there were doormen and baggage clerks situated at their desks outside the hotel to take charge of our luggage and whisk us to the check in clerk at the reception area. Our passports were taken for perusal and we were asked to take a seat on one of the many sofas which were around the large lobby area whilst our check in was processed. As we had booked many months in advance we knew that we were being given a complimentary upgrade to a De Luxe room in the recently refurbished Crown Tower. However when hubby showed that he was a Priority Points collector (a loyalty scheme organise by the Holiday Inn Chain) we were given a further upgrade to a Deluxe Corner Room, which supposedly had more floor space (??), but did actually have a kind of bay window area in which there was a table and a couple of comfy arm chairs…..and boy, were we grateful to have these to slump into after tramping around the city sightseeing!
However, I digress……

Room number 1736 in which we stayed was on the seventeenth floor of The Crown Tower and once all the paperwork was completed for our check in our passports were returned to us, we were given the keycard to the room along with directions and an information card (detailing the amenities at the hotel).
We used the high speed lift and very quickly and easily made our way to our room where one swipe of the keycard allowed us to enter what was to be 'home' for the next few nights. The En Suite Room was very large and comfortable and contained an extra large king size bed with tables on either side with reading lamps. All the usual furnishings were in place in the room along with a mini bar/fridge, room safe (complimentary), air conditioning (VERY necessary), tea/coffee making facilities (bottled water was supplied free each morning). As well as the armchairs and table that I've already mentioned there was a chair at the dressing table/desk….the hairdryer was located in a drawer here and the television (with satellite channels) was sited on this. The wardrobes were built in and were of a reasonable size with plenty of hangers. The en suite bathroom was also very large and had a WC, a wash basin with mirror above, a bath tub and a separate walk in shower (bliss)!! There was an ample supply of warm fluffy towels, spa toiletries and make up removal kit etc. - these were replaced as necessary, usually morning and evening. There was a 'turn down' service in this hotel and it was particularly lovely to see orchids on the pillows when we came in at night.
I almost forgot the view from the corner window…..how could I…..we overlooked the very busy Silom road and we could also see the rather brown Chao Phraya river, but it was a view…..we could just as easily have had a room which looked on to another building!

We stayed room only at this hotel and chose to dine in a few of the many restaurants which surround the hotel, so I can't comment on the standards in the hotel's restaurants, however they did look inviting and the menus looked good. We enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to return. Perhaps if we ever do return we might find the time to make use of some of the facilities on offer. Although we didn't make use of the facilities within the hotel each and every member of staff that we came into contact with was friendly and smiling and they had an aura of total professionalism. We just didn't have time on this visit as we were too busy seeing the sights of Bangkok……we even managed a trip to the river Kwai…but that's another story….

...for 2 nights in the Holiday Inn, Bangkok. On arrival we were greeted by welcoming staff who took our suitcases from us whilst we experienced a smooth check in. We were shown up to our room which was spacious, comfortable and clean, and informed about the free drink that we could get from the restaurant.

The Holiday Inn is about a five minute walk from the Skytrain which was useful, to quickly and inexpensivly travel to other areas in Bangkok.
All in all i would definately recommend a stay at the Holiday Inn and if i am fortuante enough to return to Bangkok i would stay in this hotel again. ...
