bedroom hotel is only a short distance from the frenzied rides of Alton Towers and the scenic Peak District. The local china industry with its numerous factory shops and museums are also nearby. The hotel offers a relaxing restaurant and bar as well as an indoor swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool and gym.

THE VERDICT
Despite the problems we had we would stay here again. It was better than the Jarvis Clayton Lodge up the road (which felt rather like an old people’s home!). The hotel was fairly character-less but was clean and functional. Facilities were good and prices reasonable. It cannot get 5 stars and 4 is probably pushing it if I were only going on the one experience (and that of CheekyChicken) but I genuinely think that it was a one-off…

...getaway in the morning! At five pounds, you'd be better off trying to find a supermarket cafe for a better breakfast.
Overall this hotel offers some very cheap rooms which, although quite old and well-used, more than foot the bill for a one night stop-over on a motorway journey. This hotel is very close to the M6 and the A500 for easy access for Stoke on Trent and NewcastleUnderLyme. As this is just off the motorway, there are no other facilities available in the immediate vicinity. I'd recommend this for a one-nighter but not for a long stay....

...Having spent three nights at the NewcastleunderLyme Comfort Inn I thought that I would give a quick review.
My wonderfull husband decided to add a couple of extra days to the holiday we had already booked, to have a few days away with our youngest two children before collecting the other two in Hastings. He is always rumaging through the papers for 'deals' and found one for the Choice Hotel group of which Comfort, Quality, Sleep Inn (new to UK) and Clarion all belong. We managed to get 3 nights at £50 a night dinner bed and breakfast for the four of us (2 kids were free sharing the room although you were supposed to pay for meals). After struggling to find one in the area we wanted to go to as they were booked very quickly at this price we found newcastleunderLyme.
