Advantages: Access to gym and pool, good breakfast Disadvantages: Some noise from neighbours
I stayed at the HolidayInn Birmingham M6, Jct. 7 last weekend. I paid £54 for two people bed and breakfast. This was direct from the HolidayInn website and was the best I could find. It was slightly cheaper because it was advance payment, although as it was on my credit card I've still not actually paid!
It was very easy to find, literally 2 mins off the M6. While the exterior did have a slight council flat look to it, the reception area was lovely. Check in was smooth and speedy.
We had a room that seemed to be miles away, although we found a slightly quicker route later!
The room was clean and tidy. It had a desk and chair along with a small 'dining' table and chair. There was a 'room service' service although it did look rather expensive (to be expected I suppose!).
The bathroom was on the compact side, but again it was clean ...
Advantages: Reasonably priced, well appointed hotel. Convenient Location Disadvantages: Poor staff communication and complaint handling
you do not have to travel far off the motorway.
THE VERDICT
Despite the problems we had we would stay here again. It was better than the Jarvis Clayton Lodge up the road (which felt rather like an old people?s home!). The hotel was fairly character-less but was clean and functional. Facilities were good and prices reasonable. It cannot get 5 stars and 4 is probably pushing it if I were only going on the one experience (and that of CheekyChicken) but I genuinely think that it was a one-off?

Advantages: Close to M6 and sight seing in the Midlands Disadvantages: Its not 4* and you pay on line
We decided to stay over in Coventry and collect our Granddaughter and bring her back for a break near the sea side.
Our choice of hotel was the HolidayInn because the cost was £37.95 per night and only 1 weeks notice, We usually use Travelodge and get a room for £15 or £26. Concidering there is a gym and swimming pool we felt it was good value.
The room was on the small side but fine for just the one night that we were staying. Shampoo etc provided as was tea and coffee. There was a shortage of towels which were brought to our room so quickly I didn't have time to put the phone down.
The hotel is fairly modern with a wide open reception area with a little coffee shop the dining room was close by . Close by are pubs where you can get a meal. Across the road there is a McDonnel with a large play area for children ...
