The appearance of the hotel is a little dated, and it looks a bit 'frayed around the edges'. It is need of ... ...hotel.
Checking in is not much of a problem, as long as you can get the girl behind the desk to stop taking personal phone calls and text messages at the same time!. Our allocated room was altered during check-in, however as the receptionist's mind was else where , we were directed to tghe original room in a different part of the hotel. This was frustrating after a lomg drive, but she apologised for the mis-informtaion.

The appearance of the hotel is a little dated, and it looks a bit 'frayed around the edges'. It is need of a good spruce up. There is ample parking around the hotel.
Checking in is not much of a problem, as long as you can get the girl behind the desk to stop taking personal phone calls and text messages at the same time!. Our allocated room was altered during check-in, however as the receptionist's mind was else where , we were directed to tghe original room in a different part of the hotel. The room we had was spacious and clean, but again a bit dated and tatty around the edges. The bed was spacious, clean and comfortable (even for me at 6'3", and my 7-month pregnant wife!). The room had the usual facilities of coffee maker, iron, hairdryer, cable tv etc. The only thing it lacked for a UK visitor was the ubiquitous tea-bags. The bathroom was reasonably well-equiped, was clean, and fortunately again being 6'3" the shower went high enough for me to fit under it.
The hotel has a restaurant, however we did not use or see it, so can't comment on it. there is a bar, Woody's, just off reception. It appeared dark and particularly non-inviting. When we arrived early evening there was no-one using the bar area.
When I asked at rection about whereelse there was to eat etc, the reception staff provided us with a sheet of directions to local restaurants, and the manager took time to try and opoint out what he thought would be the most suitable for our needs. This is then where we found the first main problem with the hotel... It is sited close to the 'Fairgrounds' area of the city, where exhibitions and trade shows are held. As we visited at a time when it was in between fairs then there was little else close-by. It see,ms most visitors to the fairs either use the amenities at the fairgrounds, or eat at their hotel. We had to drive into Liverpool, about 4-5 miles, to find somewhere suitable and more importantly 'open'.
Late at night and early the next morning the next problem with the hotel arose. It is adjacent to a distribution centre, and lorries coming and going, as well as leaving engines running in the centre disturbed us several times. This may be alleviated if you get a room on the opposite side of the hotel. It would be worth asking for. Also amke sure you don't get a room right next door to the ice machines - they appear to be very old, and therefore are VERY noisy.
In hindsight I would have chosen a more up-to-date hotel nearer to the city, so that more amenities were close at hand, but I suppose there was a clue in the title of the hotel telling me where it was.
If you are visiting or working at one of the fairgrounds exhibitions/trade shows this hotel would be a reasonable base, but it is not wholly suitable to the travelling tourist. It is on the outskirts of Syracuse, away from the restaurants/shops, and is noisy. On the plus side it is relatively clean and accessable. It is a very 'average' hotel, but I would however think twice about stopping here again.
