Advantages: Those fantastic views. Disadvantages: Slippery when wet.
...We visited the Achelleion Palace on Thursday 22 May as part of the Island Tour we had booked thru our Rep.
If staying in or near Corfu Town you can get there by Public Bus, check at Blue Bus Station in Corfu Town for times.
The day we visited it was pouring of rain so do not have any photos of gardens, and the trip around the Garden was brief, but even with limited Visability the views must be stunning, a reason to return.
Entrance to the Palace and Grounds is 7 Euros.
The Palace was built between 1890-1893 in the Pompeian style by Italian Cardilo for Empress of Austria Elizabeth.

Advantages: Great all-round Family Holidays Disadvantages: N/A
...If you want an amazing family fun-filled holiday then this is the place to go. Myself, my husband and two children went there in August of last year. The journey from the Airport was around an 1 1/2 hours, but it was scenic and not to much of a strain. Everything Thomsons had stated in their brochure was spot on with a few hidden extras on arrival.
On entering our one-bedroom apartment we were amazed at how...

Advantages: Amazing, relazing, beautiful. Disadvantages: Some parts are very chavvy and "english"
...the plane, it was the first time we'd been anywhere like that, we'd always holiday'ed in England and Northern France, so temperatures like that weren't really anything we were used to, but it was a pleasent heat, not humid and sweaty.
We were taken to the appartment by a small mini bus with other people who were going to other various places along the way, from Corfu Town it took around half an hour to get to the appartment. Upon first views, Corfu Town (the capital) we weren't too impressed, it was dirty, the buildings seemed to be falling down, and it all seemed very third world and scary looking. But as we continued out of the capital, the scenery changed and became much more green, and as the Ionian sea came into view, and the small houses, and little old ladies next to the road selling their wares we knew we'd made the right choice...

It is with mixed feelings that I embark on this review. I want to tell you about a wonderful place I first visited as a child - a massive sumptuous palace in beautiful fairytale surroundings - a stately home whose past occupants have played prominent... more
