Holy smoke. It is Manchester Cathedral

Advantages: Free. Good way to pass an hour
Disadvantages: not as impressive as other cathedrals

Does Manchester have a cathedral.you, may ask? It is not known for it. Surely Old Trafford is its cathedral. Yes it does. I visited the cathedral and its fairly new visitos centre numerous times. The first time I went with my parents when they were visiit8ing Manchester in October 2002. I subsequently visited the Cathedral and its visitor?s centre to review it for a project for university. Manchester Cathedral is one of the oldest and most important buildings in Manchester City Centre. The six hundred year old collegiate church is located in the oldest area of the city near the confluence of the Irwell and Irk rivers. The building although not the most impressive cathedral compared to York Minster or Salisbury, attracts 70 000 visitors each year. Within this there lies a problem: The cathedral role is dual as a place of worship ...

in bruges

Advantages: wonderful acting, good story and great scene variation, nice town also
Disadvantages: the ending was predictable based on characterisation

in bruges cast director - martin Mcdonagh ken - brendan gleeson ray ? colin farrell rhloe - clemence poesy jimmy jordan prentice harry ralph fiennes this film was martin mcdonagh's first film, though he had previously made a short film called ?six shooter's? a few years earlier. i remember seeing six shooters on film four, and it would not surprise me to see this film one day on the same channel. the structures of these two films are similar, the plots are known fairly quickly and the acting is really good. using trains and train platform scenes also took place in both films. the one thing i question is the originality of in bruges as crime and shooting films are nothing new. set in bruges, a picturesque medieval town in Belgium. during the film we get to see the canals, the views ...

Review of In Bruges (DVD)

A beautiful cathedral

Advantages: Beautiful cathedral and friendly guides
Disadvantages: None

On a recent short break to Ripon in North Yorkshire, and having a liking for cathedrals as I do, I took the time to visit Ripon Cathedral with my partner. Located just five minutes walk from the market square area of Ripon town centre, the cathedral is very easy to reach. There is also a car park a couple of minutes walk from the cathedral. Ripon Cathedral is unusual in that, in common with only one other Cathedral in the country, it also functions as a Parish Church. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A LITTLE HISTORY ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Cathedral building itself began in the 7th century when St Wilfrid built one of England's first stone churches on the site. St Wilfrid was educated at Lindisfarne and then travelled to Rome in 652. On his return, he became abbot of a Benedictine monastery and built a church in Ripon. The crypt of the church is ...
