Oh, oh, Ocean Park!

Advantages: A fun-filled day out, educational as well as entertaining
Disadvantages: Long walks and queues can be lengthy

...we are sure to visit Ocean Park. It costs about £16 for an adult (half price for child) but via a promotional offer we paid less than twelve quid for a ticket. The theme park is split into two parts, and these are connected by a cable car ride system. The Lowlands - which is where the main entrance is situated - is where the Giant Pandas can be seen. I only saw An An this time around, so I have yet to see the new arrivals Le Le and Ying Ying. But ...
...as the sheer size of Ocean Park makes for a lengthy walk. Whilst there are plenty of display statues which provide for picture opportunities, there are image galleries to view and purchase those photo moments. Unlike Hong Kong Disneyland, Ocean Park is definitely worth returning to as there is so much to see and do. ...

Disneyland Hong Kong

Advantages: Good day out for family
Disadvantages: NA

...it has finally arrive in Hong Kong, my birthplace. It is located in the Lantau Islands, close to the new airport. I went there after a few months of opening. You need to get on the railway network of MTR and interchange for the Disneyland Resort Line at Sunny Bay Station. In there, you can on the special "disney" train. Once I got on it, I was already very excited. Inside the train, they have put in various statues of disney characters on display. ...
...I went to both and it was a good opportunity to take lots of pictures. In the evening parade, they also have fireworks which can really spice up your evening. It is not exceptional to those who've been to Disneyland but it's Disneyland in the Hong Kong style. ...

Shoot them baddies!

Advantages: fun for all the family
Disadvantages: flashing lights may annoy some people

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters Ride I went on this ride when I was in Disney in Hong Kong and I have to admit it was in my opinion the best attraction/ride in the whole place (I am not a big fan of the large roller coasters!) My husband and I queued up a few times to go on it. This ride is based on Toy Story and Buzz Lightyear and he is fighting his arch villain Emperor Zerg. At the start of the ride you get to meet a huge Buzz Light year while ...
...for young children. While on the ride you get to see the evil Emperor Zerg. You are put in a car, which 3 people (two adults and possibly a child) can sit at the front however there were only two guns and it will twist and turn you around the ride. The movements of the car when it turns were reasonably smooth. The aim the ride is to use your gun and shoot as many flashing targets as possible. You can see where your gun is pointing as you will see ...

The Star Ferry

Advantages: Fun, unusual method of transport nowadays
Disadvantages: Only lasts 15 minutes!

The Star ferry is the iconic ferry service betwen Kowloon and Hong Kong island and has been ferrying passengers back and forth now for well over a century. The ferry line actually has four routes although the most famous and commonly used one, and the one most people mean when they talk about the 'Star ferry' is from tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon to Central, Hong Kong. The price is HK$2.3/1.8 upper/lower deck (£1 currently is around HK$12) so an extremely ...
...Kong. Boats depart at least every 15-20 minutes so you can turn up at the pier without having to look up departure times in advance and the crossings take only around 15 minutes. There are now other ways to get across to Hong Kong island such as the metro which may be more convenient for regular commuters, however, as a tourist it means you are not stuck underground but instead looking at the city. The cost of the metro is also comparable to the ...

Absolutely Brilliant!

Advantages: Easy, Painless, Clean
Disadvantages: It can be a trek to gates that are further out

Hong Kong's Chek Lap Kok Airport was built on the remains of a tiny Island located near the larger Lantau Island off the coast of Hong Kong. Whilst it seems a crazy idea, the airport has grown into one of Asia's top passenger and cargo airline hubs. Departing from the airport: Each airline is given their particular check-in area, usually with dedicated desks for First, Business and Economy class passengers, groups, and other specialist concerns. ...
...free shopping, but BE WARNED: Hong Kong doesn't have any duty on many items anyway, so waiting until the airport to buy things in the hope that they'll be cheaper is false economy. The shops there jack up their prices a considerable amount. Because there are so many departure gates, you might find yourself having to jump on the automatic train to take you to your gate. From memory, if you are departing from gates 30-70, then, whilst you can walk ...
